well as far as i know, you can buy an accesory that has a microphone plug adapter on it (either an italk or a belkin microphone adapter). And from there you can plug in any microphone you want into it. The problem is the ipod can only record at i think the speck was 8kps or something like that.
Apparently the chip inside can do alot more, but apple restricted it to stop bootlegging etc.

iRivers on the other hand can record at up to the highest bitrate for mp3, 320 kbps or whatever.

yes, i have also been told that irivers are the best when it comes to things like recording live (i am thinking of buying one for lectures and of course bootleggin'!) unless anyone has any tips on something better??

If I'm just looking to get something purely for bootlegging, would an iRivers be good or would I be better off looking at something else?
