He's 23, which kinda makes his statement of "I like Westlife" even more cringeworthy. how do i put this... does he like... other young men?

I don't think so. He wants to go to Brazil to meet some chica he met on the net. She has similiar music tastes to him.

I was on the train yesterday with some old friends and the topic of music came up. The following phrases were spoken by various people:
"I want to go to Rumba next year. Anyone else want to go?" "I love that Avril Lavigne song Sk8ter Boi, he was a skater boy, he was a skater boy I said see you later boy, I'll see you after the show, he was a skater boy, Ooohhoo...." "I love Kylie!" "My sister bought Holly Vallance's album. It's really good, you'd be surprised." "That girl from Neighbours, Delta, her new song is really good!" "I love Liberty X, their new song is so good!" "The John Farmen show was excellent. He's really funny and good with the audience." "Yes I went to Melbourne to see Paul Dempsey play.... that's Paul Dempsey... the lead singer from Something For Kate.... you do know who Something For Kate are right.....?"
You can guess which line was mine.
Um, is there somewhere in the White Pages where you can apply for new friends?

hey, that delta goodrem chick is pretty good. apparently she wrote it herself and everything - and she does wear clothes. bring more of them on if you're going to keep throwing them at us i say. get used to it mark. all my friends are the same. mind you, i pretty much never talk to them anymore, because, well, they're arseholes. i've found some people that can at least stand what i listen to - they might not be the first people to accompany me to a sfk gig, but i'm sure they'd go, give the money and chance. we respect each others musical tastes. it's nice.

Maybe yeah. Asides from briefly seeing her interviewed at channel v last year while Paul Dempsey was down the front giving a history lesson to fans, I haven't heard her stuff. I'll take your word for it for now. get used to it mark. all my friends are the same. mind you, i pretty much never talk to them anymore, because, well, they're arseholes. i've found some people that can at least stand what i listen to - they might not be the first people to accompany me to a sfk gig, but i'm sure they'd go, give the money and chance. we respect each others musical tastes. it's nice. I might have had some success last night converting some of them though. After we arrived home we decided to go to the home of one them and sit around, drink, talk, etc. I made a detour and grabbed my guitar on the way. When I got there and they saw me with the guitar they decided that I should use it. So I found myself at 1:30 am singing & playing my guitar. The er, setlist, hehe, was: Twenty Years (Something For Kate) Dreamworld (Midnight Oil) The Astronaut (Something For Kate) Karma Police (Radiohead) Sing (Travis) After I did Twenty Years there were mumblings of "I like that song", "yes that song's good". Ha! Conversion succeeding. (Well except my "I like Westlife" friend. He suffered in silence.)

well, i'm not a fan, but she's half decent, which is better than the rest of them.
i'm wary of converting pop-chicklets. it's nice to have a varied taste in music, but when they run around going "that monsters song is kewliez!!" is makes me want to bash my head against the wall. :/

My friend owns the latest musical challenge cd, and when sfk came on the conversation went something like this:
Friend 'Is their a girl in this band?' Me 'Yes she plays bass' Friend 'Oh is her name Kate? Me 'No her name is Steph' Friend 'Well why are they called sfk? Me *explains* Friend 'Oh i thought there would be a girl and she would be the lead singer and she would be called Kate. What a bunch of weirdos'
She also wanted to go to Rumba.

Ahh Rumba, my classmates love to talk about this concert....they think standing around in a huge crowd while shaggy does his "jamaican" voice is a mosh...and then they come to cool and tell us all about it....
"Shaggy was awesome, and we were in this massive mosh pit during Pink...Pink's gone all 'punk' now.."
I feel sick...I used the work Pink and Punk in the same sentence.
