making up a compilation CD for an American friend, and i'm having doubts about what to put on for my SFK choice. which song is the best to hook someone on the sounds of our favorite trio? i was thinking of either monsters, 20 years or astronaut (monsters single).
thoughts?

i would go with something like monsters or captain - reliable tracks that most people find easy to get into.

Hallways perhaps? I made a whole CD for my American friend...took me 20 tracks to do what you're trying to do in one

slow or easy depends on the nature of the person you are trying to impress...

could you use a couple of tracks? quite different ones to show your friend how diverse sfk can be. (all their songs don't sound the sound, damnit!) hell, why not just send 'em all 3 albums, 2 eps, and 2 cds worth of b-sides. ;D

i'm having enough trouble fitting all the songs i want to send her on three 3 CDs, so i'm not doubling artists up.

"i'm having enough trouble fitting all the songs i want to send her on three 3 CDs, so i'm not doubling artists up. i think monsters (single version)?" yeah, that or 'say something' she can just work backwards through sfk after you get her hooked

Pinstripe. As powerful now as they first time I heard it! Or, if you really want to get them hooked into the whole SFK vibe, then I suggest one of their more subtler songs, like Anchorman, Back to You or White. I know Anchorman was what pulled me in. I'd heard songs like Captain and Electricity and Hallways, all the popular songs, and I like them all. But I remember hearing their live at the wireless in 1999, and thought it was all good, and then they played the anchorman, and I remember when Paul sung the line "I saw you swimming inside a star...", I was like "....Ohhhhhhhh!" Suddenly it all made sense! Lol, that sounds lame, but you all probably know what I mean!

1.Pinstripe (acoustic) 2. Like Bankrobbers (live) 3. Whatever you want (either album or live @chapel) 4. Stunt Show 5. Hallways (live on JJJ live @wireless) 6. Electricity 7. Born Yesterday 8. Dreamworld (if they are ozzie- great cover) 9. Mental Note 10. Astronaut (live on Monsters single) 11. Feeding the birds..... 12. WWJA (fan on dance music) 13. Prick 14. Truly (live if possible) 15. Monsters i know this is a CD worth of songs but i think it reflects all of SFK's moods...... good luck picking one
