Does it bug anyone else that it should be "assess" rather than "access" or am I pedantic? And isn't it amusing that I'm having a go at someone's spelling but I can't spell pedantic, I'm just guessing.

Yeah, 'john' was bloody terrifying. I had one hour to evacuate my house (bastards didn't let us go home early enough from work - long story) coz my house was in the storm surge zone (had to camp out at a mates place). The SES were going around town putting E's, V's, A's on everybody's doors (felt a bit like the passover!!) so that they could tell who had or hadn't evacuated yet and to presumably get a idea of the potential body count if it all went to shit!
Anyway, around 4am, we started coping the the eye-wall of this storm (it was a cat five at this stage). I remember being so tired i couldn't move out of my swag but I knew I had to somehow wake up enough to get my arse to a safer part of the house becuase the roof was actually starting to be blown off (very, very scary). Amazingly enough though, Dad was still able during the peak of the storm to call me from Melb on the mobile to find out how things were going !!
As further proof that there maybe a god, the top of the storm got sheared off, causing the cyclone at the last minute to change direction away from Karratha and instead terrorise a couple of unfortunate souls in Whim Creek, who sat out the 300km/hr winds in the pitch darkness of a sea container...

fark. i went through a cyclone when i was little. a 2 i think. sont remember much, just those flapping curtains and trees falling down. and mum pulling my tooth out. it was loose you see. speaking of mum, she just came in and handed me a glass of kahlua for no particular reason. strange, though im not complaining.

kaluha and milk (bit like baileys hahaha ;D).
Seriously, sitting out that cat 5 was one of the scariest moments of my life, along with the time I slipped off a cliff-face while I was mapping in NZ...

carpe diem me thinks. we did dead poets society so long ago. ahh, damned memory. the 80's were the best years of all! and people born in the 80's are top blokes (and sheilas). i dont trust those 70's kids... near death? just the time i ate so much i thought my stomach was going to explode. but i guess that doesnt count.

Putting the fact that it was dirtgirl who wrote it aside, it reminds me too much of my dad. He uses "access" for "excess", "heighth" for "height", "pistaccio" (the nut or whatever it is) for "pasito" (the softdrink) ... the list goes on!!! The thing is, he only says it wrong because he is being SPASTIC in the first place. He says it wrong just to be an idiot, and then from then on he actually BELIEVES (in his own mind) that that is how you say the word. Adding to this, he uses the wrong pronunciation around others and THEY start saying it! I don't know how many people are infected with "heighth" now...
