i think it was because it was very unoriginal. where is the true fantasy in it? wheres the truly evil person? wheres the anticipated airship?
instead we got alien ghosts 'attacking' earth. bah.

Where was the cataclysmic near end of the world? Where was the laconic young boy who discovers he's been brainwashed/has amnesia and undertakes a quest to discover who he really is only to learn he was involved in some global government conspiracy and is also the chosen one? Where was the talking animal? Where was the highly spiritual young girl with healing magical powers? Where was the sassy and brave young girl wanting to take on the enemy? Where was the character you thought was the enemy until the middle of the story where he/she was revealed to be a pawn for the even bigger and more dangerous enemy? Where were the moogles? Where were the chocobos? Where was Cid?
Actually, I think there was a Cid in it. Hmm.

The things they needed:
- Soundtrack by Nobou Uematsu - The Proper FF Logo - A Twist in the Plot (some discovery of truth) - Killing off all the main characters - WRONG! - The Battles! Where were the good battles? Guns - how fucking pathetic. - An ending that was worth waiting for. - A new team to design the movie. Fire the others.

- Killing off all the main characters - WRONG! They're allowed to kill off one main character. In fact, it's expected. - The Battles! Where were the good battles? Guns - how fucking pathetic. That's allowed. See game # 8.

i said all. i mean, Aki was the only one who lived [Cid may have....I think?]
Guns....well, they did. But they had gunblades and cool stuff. Anyway, FF8 was meant to be the most technologically advanced of them.

Yeah, trouble with the Final Fantasy movie was that asides from Aki and Alex Baldwin, the characters were pretty flat. Compare the FF movie characters with the deep and interesting characters of the Final Fantasy 8 game. Big big difference.
It was a pity because it's the characters that have drawn me to the FF games before, but with the movie it seemed to be a big wank to show off their new technology. Bah.

gee, this has turned into the final fantasy movie thread.....
i wouldn't see the movie as it just looked like some big way of promoting a liscence just to get a bit more cash.... its funny though that the amount of money put into it wasn't compensated for due to the lack of people bothering to see it, putting them into a state of near bankrupcy, giving them one option to try and save themselves... suck up to the companires they previously pictured themselves as being above.........
squaresoft are such a lame company.........

squaresoft are such a lame company......... Well, not really. They've been pretty clever and creative with some of their computer games. But, oddly their movie blowed.

Well, not really. They've been pretty clever and creative with some of their computer games. yes, really.... considering all games they have made are just a derivative of the first game they made anyway, whether it be a sequel or unrelated series..... all the games are the same... they just look a bit different and are full of movies simply made for an easy dollar...... except secret of mana - that was quite good.

True, there's some formulaic elements in them, but they're usually different enough to be fun and interesting. except secret of mana - that was quite good. Their best I'd say. A multiplayer RPG like that was quite an original idea.
