ohh lordy me i love blueline medic... they are just brilliant
one of my favourite nights ever was sitting at the bar in the punter's club, watching them through the arch (perfect view to the stage) with 2 great friends, listening to the band, talking shite and getting slowly sloshed...
"the apology wars" is one of my fave albums ever - hands down the best album released last year
i'm looking forward to a new album from the gents eventually... the ep (a working title in green) is great too if people ever get a chance to hear it
all hail blueline medic

im not sure where to categorize them - people tend to get very touchy these days when you do, but i guess i would say a little punk and little rock and a little something else... the lead singerdonnie has the most awesome voice ever - probably cause its quite unique... i will suggest a couple of songs to download if you like.

ok you may have heard the cover of tori amos' Precious Things on the jjjs recently( its been in the net 50 for frickin ages and if it doesnt make the top 15 in the hottest 100 i'll be mighty amazed (and disappoijnted)) ahhh yeah its so great other tracks to have a listen to would be: * making the nouveau riche (apology wars) * not interested (apology wars) * cathedral (apology wars) * over the lawn (apology wars) * plight 217 (working title in green) the somgs are just so great and sung with so much enegy and passion and clout - they make me feel like i could leap a small building

That's a good description of them. I love the raw energy of the songs. Didn't do heaps for me at first but when I listened to the album after awhile the lyrics and music started to really grow on me. I love it now. I saw them play as support for SFK in January but wasn't into it much. However, now that I have their album and am more familiar with their songs, I'd love to see them live again. hey, btw, Megan, which CD is their cover of Tori's Precious Things on?

So I saw Blueline Medic play last night at the Annandale Hotel with a friend, Lou, and a friend of hers. It was fun. They played a lot of songs off their album, plus Plight 217 from their EP, plus some new songs. The lead singer Donnie has a different stage presence to the quieter Paul (Dempsey). That's not a slight on Paul, I prefer Paul's mannerism, but I found the difference interesting. When one guy in the crowd yelled a song request Donnie singled him out and said "you're lucky I don't get you up here to sing it instead". Then he paused and said "I'm shitting myself now... you probably would". Heh. They played their cover of Precious Things which he introduced as "yes, we'll play our cover of Precious Things by Tori Amos. Bow your heads reverently".
There was no crowd singing though. It seems to be de rigueur at Something for Kate gigs, but not elsewhere I guess. I caught about 4 or 5 people in the crowd partially singing to the songs Making the Nouveau Riche and Shuffle & Scape, but it wasn't the sing-a-long you get at SFK gigs (à la Beautiful Sharks, Truly, Monsters, etc).
