I've had some people ask me already if they could have a sneak peek @ the site. If there is anyone else who's interested, I need a few people to go through the site quickly just to test everything is working ok because there are some new features. If you're interested please email: somethingforkaty@hotmail.com

Thanks. I've already had some people test everything and I'm fixing a few bugs. The link is offline again while I fix the bugs, and when it's online again I will send it out to the past testers, and the new ones as well (you included). I've turned karma back on now to prove a point, but incidentally that kind of made me realise how stupid it is (as you can see I have now smited you in return ). People had already questioned it's relevance, and I guess I see why now that I've actually bothered to use it - are me and you just going to continue to smite on each other back and forth now for eternity merely to change each others scores rather than for an actual reason? New members being targeted by certain individuals had already mentioned to me they had been discouraged from posting because they had felt real multiple visitors actually reading their posts (as opposed to the same person lurking just to smite then continually) had done so because they didn't like them or something. I want everyone to feel like they can post freely about whatever without fear of reprisal, which I guess is another reason why I turned it off. It seemed to be a tiny resurrection of the elitist popularity contest that plagued this forum for awhile, which won't ever be returning. Personally, I always saw the function as a bit of fun. It's not really much use at the moment but when there's more traffic around some shows and when the album comes out there will probably be a lot more of it in use. It just becomes difficult when some take it more seriously than it should be. Hence the death of karma, and now it's resurrection! Lastly, I assume by your post you are suggesting that I turned it off because I was having some kind of sook over my karma score? For the record I can change anyones karma score, including my own! (as you will see to the left so if that was my true intention it would have been easier and more subtle for me to simply return my score to zero rather than turning off the whole function

Things are so much better here. It was like revenge of the nerds or something before but now everyone is free to just hang out and there's no more petty bitching.

A good observation. A long time ago a visitor here asked Paul about web forums and he said he felt they were only a place for people to ridicule each other, or something like that. It was sad to think that he could have gotten that perception about the whole forum from just a few people, especially when the forum is dedicated to him! Things are looking up now

really? i guess not having been here that long and only looking back on old stuff occassionally i never really got a good impression about what the forum was all about before, except for the fact that there were alot of people posting all the time. its good if things have improved and yeah, understood about the karma thing. i guess i never really saw it as a relevant or a serious thing but i guess it would be easy to perceive like that. and no katy, i wasnt implying that seriously either, just making a jest .im sure you got it. you all rock, thanks muchly for everything.

i never really got a good impression about what the forum was all about before, except for the fact that there were alot of people posting all the time. its good if things have improved I've been a member since 2001. The people they were talking about were only a few. That has nothing to do with the amount of visitors. I've watched the forum over all these years and have noticed things dry up when Something for Kate aren't doing much (like now) and then completely explode again when things are happening. This is the longest dry spell the band has had for awhile so it is expected. As others have said it will pick up again when the new album comes around as it always does, and people remember SFK again and also remember the forum. It's only really the die hard fans that stick around in the droughts. Welcome to the forum
