seems a bit wierd to be discriminating against Bi people versus homosexual? What sort of job does your friend do?!

But do you seriously believe that hetrosexual males are more discriminated against than, say homosexual males? Most definitely!! Society these days, is generally more accepting of homosexual males. The same can't be said to how it reacts to hetrosexual males. If you're a hetrosexual male that doesn't fit into society's rigid definition of how a hetrosexual male should act, then society won't be too tolerant. As a hetrosexual male, you're expected to eat the meat, watch the football, drool exclusively over size double d fake breasts, not act too emotional [unless (a) you're drunk or (b) your football team loses] and in general act like a stereotypical dumb man. Failure to act in a such a way will make society question your heterosexuality, because hey, only gay people and women are allowed to be interesting. Straight men must remain boring and dumb, or they mustn't be very straight.

he worked in a supermarket, yes one you all know it, his supervisor told him he wasnt welcome there if he was bi, so she was less impressed that he was gay. Tiberius, i disagree with you and this is where i leave this topic, because i have serious issues dealing with people that disagree with me on issues that are important to me and i realise that there is no point continuing because neither of us are going to change our minds

I have to agree with kristy on this. I don't think there is any way that our society is more accepting of homosexuals than hetrosexuals. I mean people still get beaten up for being gay, the words gay and fag are still derogatory terms. I don't think there are many people being attacked for being hetrosexual, and i doubt that there will ever be a day when someone can call someone 'straight' and have it be an offensive term.

i understand what tiberius is saying to a certain extent, the expectations placed on hetrosexual males are undoubtly greater then the expectations placed on homosexual males but homosexual males and females deal with discrimination to a much larger extent then hetrosexual males and/or females do. and also consider that homosexual males are actually males and they have all those expectations placed on them as well, add to this adolescence, when alot homosexuals deal with who they are and what more needs to be said?

Mmm, I didn't mean it in terms of society thinking of hetrosexual males in derogatory terms as such, but rather in that society is more accepting of homosexual males being "weird" and "different", but less so of hetrosexual males.
I think, Dempsey is a hetrosexual male role model. He's someone who's obviously rather masculine and doesn't invest in the sensitive new age guy crap, but at the same time, he's someone who's obviously not afraid to be emotional and intellectual.

Sure there probably still are alot of expectations on males, but i think that they are pretty much self imposed. I mean what does it really matter if people think you are gay anyway. If you aren't a sports fan but prefer arts or politics let people think what they want. I very much doubt that people will instantly assume that you are gay. If so why the hell would you care?

I agree, i was thinking the other day what a lot of crap the whole so called SNAG deal was.

True, and as you get older you start to care less of what people think or presume.

This is a little of topic but I felt like a whinge. I am sick of ppl using the term 'gay' as a a way to tease someone. Constantly at school if someone doesn't like someone, they'll call them gay as an insult. If a guy isn't into sport, mainly football.....he's gay. If a guy would rather read a book than stare at a girls breasts.....he's gay and a nerd. If he has an interest in art.....he's gay. If he has any brains at all......he's gay. And I tried to tell myself that it's just kids in my grade being immature. But noooo it's not. This girl in the 10th grade on my bus constantly sitting there * Do I like Tim? No he's such a fag * Oh my gosh did you see what Marc's wearing? He's so gay! *Look at Greg reading a book. What a homo. Bah....it pisses me off. A girl in my class is always using 'gay', 'fag' or 'homo' as an insult. I told her off about it, and she said "I know he's not gay....I'm just trying to piss him off" I then told her... "That's my point exactly! You are using that word as an insult....like it's a bad thing. How would you feel if you were gay.....and had to constantly hear ppl teasing others by calling them gay?" Now she prolly suspects that I'm gay.....because I'm sticking up for them. And the fact is....I'm not gay. But if I was, is that such a bad thing? Sorry...whinge session over.
