Did all you McDonalds employees go to a Macca's Cooking College and were all taught how to cook using the ~exact~ same techniques?

Also, another question- How come everything on the menu tastes identicle no matter where you go? I bought a Big Mac in Brisbane and one at home in Sydney and they still tasted like they came out of the same grease pit!!! Thats why Maccas are so succesful, no matter where you go in the world you know what your getting. I think this gives the masses a feeling of security, its whats the company has aimed (for that the customers absolutely know that the BigMac is a homogenised product with no chance of variation). Recently i read a magazine article based on a small survey of young people (over 18) in brisbane, that was aimed at finding out why certain people feel more comfortable in certain areas of Brisbane. The "townies" basically your beer drinking rugby player type person, loved the city because they knew they were not more than 2 minutes walk from one of the inner cities 6 maccas stores. So my theory is that Maccas has ingrained itself into the social conciousness of our generation and has become a security blanket.

Releavance? But I'll say it anyway! It was every parent in my neighbourhoods worst nightmare when they built a Macca's next to Woolworths 2 years ago. It is now impossible to get groceries without also having to buy 2 Happy Meals, 5 boxes of cookies and 10 soft serves! ;D

You've heard that thing about pig fat in the ice creams too? Wow, I thought my friend just made that up!!! ;D That's not just macca's ice cream though. It's any soft serve ice cream. If you're going to have ice cream you're better off having the real stuff or gelato instead of the soft serve pig fat crap.

I always thought those soft serves were abit suspicious. They were up to something!
Thanks for that dude, you can be sure I will never eat a soft serve again!

Ok Mel, well i guess we can't expect you to know all the ingrediants of the stuff (especially when they would hide anything that was incriminating anyway) but i do have one question for you. Why does anyone i know who has ever worked at macca's all say the same thing:
"If you saw it before it was cooked you would NOT eat it"

Nah i don't mean in terms of clienliness. I meant the actual food itself is supposed to look yuck before it is trasferred into something not as unpleasant.

well, the beef patties are frozen rockhard things of meat-like-stuff, and then they wack it on a grill for 41 seconds (for the cheeseburger patties) or 123 seconds (quarter pounder patties) and suddenly, it's cooked. that scares me. as for the lettuce, it comes vaccum packed, already cut up, sometimes brownish. sometimes the tomatoes are rotten, and we just use the best bits. onion is same as the lettuce, except for the cheeseburger onion, that is dehydrated just-add-water-stuff. basically, the thing that disgusts most people is the amount of fat you work with. after those patties come off the grill, after each run, you have to squedgie back the fat, that pours off the grill. it's nasty.

I bought a Big Mac in Brisbane and one at home in Sydney and they still tasted like they came out of the same grease pit!!! In Australia they all taste pretty much the same, but overseas they're a bit different...I had a friend come over from America on exchange, and she didn't like our Maccas burgers, cos they "weren't sweet enough." (don't ask me how a burger can taste "sweet", but anyway.) And in Europe, they use different sauces I think. (and put mayonaise on chips instead of tomatio sauce-yuck! )

I've done a lot of reading on McDonalds, as I loathe the organisation, but I can answer the question. The reason the burgers all taste the same in Australia is because - like everywhere else in the world, the process applied to each burger is identical and completely systematic. The reason that our burgers taste different from other parts of the world is that different ingredients are used - meat, buns, salad etc. If this weren't the case, I imagine they would taste the same because of the identical preperation process. Check this out for all the dirt on McDonalds: www.mcspotlight.org

Homer - Used grease is worth money? [gasps] Then my arteries are clogged with yellow gold! I'm rich Apu! Rich, I...aaggh! [clenches heart, then sighs] Money in the bank.

Actually I remember reading something pretty disgusting about McDonalds. So, if any of you actually enjoy the cardboard taste of McDonalds, you might not want to read the rest of this post. W A R N I N G ! ! ! ! ! ! Okay. According to a report from the Food and Drugs Administration in America, McDonalds are the world's biggest purchaser of cows eyeballs. I guess you can still call it 'beef'.
