Here's some recommended listening for you - The Whitlams' new album, Torch The Moon It's really brilliant, especially if you like their work, quite different from their previous albums, but still very unique and very Australian. Go and get it - one of the best albums of this year!! Guess this is a good time to introduce myself too, call me Funkyshmo, I've been on this forum a while but havn't said much .... I'm 16, female, from East Maitland NSW ... very much in love with something for kate!

I don't bite. I'm actually the forum nice guy!

i bought the album today, but have yet to listen to it (living in a house with 4 out of 4 people being whitlams haters doesn't help, no?). i'm sure it will be great, and if not, the album art is amazing, and i'll stick on duffy's song non-stop (love it!).

you know in "love this city", where the character in the song tops himself in the Sydney Harbour? I was really hoping that the lyrics were autobiographal.

i like the first half of the album, and the bonus cd, but it seems to lose something in the last couple of songs....
she cries too easily, and laughs too hard, shouldn't drink alone...
the cover of icehouse on the bonus disc is good.
but i was dissappointed that 'reckless', the aussie crawl cover tim did with jimmy little wasn't on the cd...

Actually, I always liked the cover the Whitlams did of "Love is Everywhere" from the "to Hal and Bacharach" compilation a few years ago.

i'll stick on duffy's song non-stop (love it!). I was a bit disappointed with Duffy's song on the album; it's been redone and it's not nearly as punchy as the radio version. Maybe I just like the piano more than most. I agree that the second half of the album, after Best Work, tends to wander off a bit. But the songs on side 4 make up for it; Don't Believe Anymore is amazing

sharky - love is everywhere is an original off eternal nightcap (still their best album, still one of the best aussie albums..)
the cover for hal and bacharach was "what do get when you fall in love"
apparently, you get pneunmonia.
