I've exposed to enough asbestos over the years not to worry about it frankly! The way the world is currently going, what with all the wars currently raging on this little insignificant piece of space junk known as the earth, the human race will have annihilated long by then anyway...some other species will have to worry about it. Whatever.

A big lump of rock slamming into us really shows how meaningless the human race is in the overall scheme of things. Its likely that this thing won't come anywhere near us. Its even more likely that most people don't give a stuff about it and when it was on the nightly news bulletin it could have been the plot to a new movie starring Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck, Armageddon 2: Return of the rock. Lets hope that when NASA send up that 'nsync dude up into space they jettison him so that if the rock does come near us it'll get him first. (Sorry but i had a shite day today)

Well it's one of those things some people will get really worked up about and others won't give a dam. We could spend time worrying about it and then it could just miss earth completely, but it could also hit earth, causing mass distruction and wiping out tens of thousands of kilometres of land, creating major climate changes and eventually nothing will grow and all living things will die. Hmmmmm when I look at it that way I'm kind of scared...... Thanks for the link Deane.

i think we have to consider this a potential threat, though in all likelyhood, there is probably an error somewhere in the calculations and it will slam into the moon instead (it'll be the best fireworks display ever!).
But even if it is on course to us, don't think that it will be easy to get it out of the way. It will take alot of work and luck to land anything on it, or to shot it down....
Human race destroyed by 2019? Unlikely. We somehow survived the cold war, and although the doomsday clock is at about 7 minutes to midnight, i think we'll keep on muddling through life to well into the future, until someone discovers nanobots , or creates a black hole or a transdimensional rip or time travel or something... then we'll be screwed.
life goes on.

I heard on the radio that they'll nudge it out of the way with lasers.
If it was to land in the ocean though, it'd create a 15 mile high tidal wave, which is, not good.

So he can make a new one.....Sort of like the Aboriginal's burning their land and moving on to find more. If the earth gets so bad, maybe it will just end and God will start all over again. A fresh canvas to paint a new picture. The world is going to end one day, weather it be by a big asteriod hitting earth and wiping us out or by our own fault, with a big neuclier(sp) bomb. I just wish it wouldn't be so soon........

Okay so the probability of it hitting us is still unsure, cause it's course can change...excellent ;D When it first came on the news, a few people brought it up in roll call..and they decided that they would ask me cause I am a "nerd" to them. I told them that it would DEFINATELY hit earth and that it will be sooner than 15 years, it could even be next year. I like to freak out dumb people...it makes my life complete...for the rest of the day all ya could hear were their phones sms'ing and them saying "Oh my god"...
