that is absolutely fucked. Your friend should be disgusted with themselves. I believe the inner circle of hell (as depicted in Dante's Inferno) is reserved for people who try and exploit charitable events for their own gain.

Selling it for more could have a positive side though - if he donated the rest of the money to a charity working over in the affected regions. That way he never lost money on a ticket he wasn't going to use, and helped the people in south-east Asia out further. That'd be the decent thing to do
