I think overall, (and yeah, there's exceptions to the rule) Something for Kate fans are quite intelligent and astute. The same can't be said for other fan groups. For example, I was in HMV in the city on Monday afternoon and I noticed a large amount of teenage girls (and some guys) wearing too much eye shadow, ties, and t-shirts for the band Good Charlotte. I soon joined the dots together when it was announced in the store that Good Charlotte would be performing in an hour. As it was announced the plethora of fans screamed hysterically. It's.... just, Good Charlotte, I thought. Scream hysterically for SFK sure, but Good Charlotte, wtf? And not once have I seen an SFK fan wear a spiked dog collar to a gig. Well, maybe I have, once or twice.

Okay gothgirl.
And you're going to dye your hair jet black, wear clothes made entirely out of latex, wear knee high leather boots, and wear black lipstick?

What are they photos of Mark? Catz? or a female Kiss tribute? Heh, I don't know. I'm afraid. if they are obsessed with good charlotte, why cant they be fanatical about them? each to his own Hmm, I'm always on the defensive here, aren't I.....Because because... it's Good Charlotte. That's why. And how much eye shadow do they really need anyway?

im just saying that they have a right to be fanatical about good charlotte.
i dont like good charlotte, neither do you, but that does not mean they are a bad band, and that they shouldnt have adoring fans

i know this was posted ages ago, but it pissed me off, so sorry Mark, but i'm gonna add my 2cents worth Hmm, I'm always on the defensive here, aren't I..... Well, when you are say things that are clearly judgemental of other people and the things they wear/listen to, then yeah, you can expect people to react. Because because... it's Good Charlotte. That's why. And how much eye shadow do they really need anyway? Okay.... I went to the Good Charlotte gig at Festival Hall recently. I am not a fan, but my boyfriend is, so i went with him. I wore back pants, heels and a dressy tshirt with no eye shadow whatsoever. Stu wore jeans and a mooks tshirt. It was a great night. Punk music is good live and everyone had a fantastic time. Yes, there were a lot of school-age girls and boys with heavy eye make-up, but that's like their 'thing'. Just like KISS fans wear makeup, so do some fans of other bands. each to their own!

Just like KISS fans wear makeup, so do some fans of other bands.each to their own! I went to the KISS Symphony and I dressed the girls in make up. They looked so cool -except one of them had a six-sided star and Paul Stanley has a five-sided star. Oops... I can't paint/draw. I had to take Crystal into the bathroom half way through the concert because her make up was dripping in her eyes & I had to wash it off. That's the last time I buy face paint from Go-Lo. Hi Claire

AND... I am taking them to Avril in June (oh god, help me!) so I can only imagine the girls wanting to straighten their hair and wear ties. It's all the go.

It's okay Claire, I expected a reaction. I didn't say what I said out of spite but rather as my observation to work out what I see.
Okay...
Good Charlotte is "punk music" eh?
*cough*
ahem
It fascinates me this and equally irks me because I don't have a definite answer. Can we really say "to each their own"? If we can, and if there's no standard of quality, then how do we ever truly know if something is of high quality or low quality? My friend who the other day told me he was thinking about buying Britney Spear's latest album as you might expect isn't the biggest Something for Kate fan (in fact he's fairly anti-SFK). Surely he's wrong yeah. We here are the elite few that have discovered quality music. That's a fascist attitude to have I know but after being forced to listen to 8 hours of Kylie Mingoue, Holly Vallance, Nelly and other brain-numbing so-called musicians at work today I'm starting to believe it. Why did the people at work put on this music? Did they actually like it? They couldn't have been listening too hard to the annoying music and banal lyrics and still enjoy it... or did they? Maybe they aren't even aware of what they're listening to? They're like a deaf person who's never heard sound before and thus has no conception of the concept to begin with. If they heard it they’d be confused. Perhaps they've been brainwashed into listening to this music? Their friends told them it was "cool" and thus they associated it with being "good" as well. But that's so arrogant of me to say. I haven't lived their lives or through their perspectives so I can't really know, can I?
I guess the big question is this: Is all art subjective and can we ever make a judgement about a piece of art?

who are we to judge? how can we define good and bad? we cant, we can only have our opinions. thus, nothing is good or bad, we can only think it is
