I'd like to bootleg some of the upcoming shows but I have no equipment or any idea where to start. Can anyone offer some advice on what equipment I should buy? Also any tips on actually recording the show would be great too

Hello Katy! what's up? so you wanna start being a bootlegger yourself ... good for ya. Which concerts are you gonna attend to bootleg? i'd be interested. So you don't know how to start ... well, easy! it just requires a bit of money (actually more than that) ... To do some really nice quality bootleg, you'll need to buy: - a minidisc recorder - and a good microphone right now, there's a clearance sale at www.minidisc.com.au/default.php?cPath=1_47 which basically means that the prices are very competitive ... you should choose a Hi-MD unit like for instance "Sony MZ-NH700" (149 dollars) that comes with a Hi-MD Bundle pack (this includes 4 very good long-lasting batteries and the charger, a carrying pouch, 5 80-minutes MDs and one random CD) ... With one of the 5 MDs given for free in the bundle pack, you'll be able to record around 140 minutes in a good quality (Atrac3Plus 256 kb/s ... equivalent to mp3) You can still add to your shopping cart some 1Gb MDs if you wanna use your minidisc recorder as a player as well as a recorder. On a 1 Gb MD, you can record around 475 minutes straight with the same quality as mentioned above. As for the microphone, you need a good one as well ... I've always personally used Sony microphones (which i think are the best) ... i own two Sony mics, ECM-MS907 (which is good but not really handy because you have to hold the mic in your hands) and ECM-719 which is currently sold out on the site www.minidisc.com.au (this one is very nice, hand-free, and easy to use ... probably why it's sold out) You can still find it for a very good price on eBay at the address mentioned below (normally, the mic is as expensive as the minidisc recorder unit): search.ebay.com.au/ECM-719_W0QQcatrefZC5QQfclZ3QQflocZ1QQfromZR7QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsacatZQ2d1QQsaslcZ2QQsbrexpZWD2SQQssPageNameZWD2Sor you could still buy another one on www.minidisc.com.au but they are more expensive than on eBay ... and i assure you if you order the ECM-719, your bootleg will be good!! well, i hope this well help! bye for now -David-
