Hello my friends, remember me? Yes, so I haven't been around much lately at all.... been busy with things... my photography, reading and studying, learning Photoshop etc Just thought I'd drop in to say Hi, and tell you all that.... I have a new camera Canon EOS 300D - Digital SLR ;D Picked it up on New Years Eve, got myself a nice little pack.... the camera, Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens, Tamron AF 28-200mm lens, a tripod, bag, 1GB storage, and a nice 5 year warranty. Only $2600 I'm REALLY happy with the camera so far, having a great time experimenting with it.... there's a dozen or so new works up on my page if you're interested- etc-etc-etc.deviantart.com/gallery/I'm thinking about setting up a prints account on the site too, considering my popularity seems to be growing quite a bit suddenly..... might make myself a little bit of money (or might not, hehe) Anyway, hope you're all well.... I might be at Cockatoo Island so will see some of you then hopefully -Collette *walks off dreaming of senior school and all the new subjects she can do as of February the 1st.... photography.... visual design.... design and technology...... *

Does that mean you'd sell your works?!! If yes, I would love to buy some prints (if i'm not broke at the time), especially black and white.. I had a look at your deviant art account and it was of very high quality..i love "play of light". Keep it up

It's not hard at all Steph, but I am used to using SLR cameras. It wouldn't take long for someone with only compact/auto camera experience to work out though - and it's well worth it. There's just so much more you can do and experiment with when you have manual settings - it's great! And yep, his first name is Brett. Amy - you have reason to be jealous, the camera is fantastic hehe

Nice camera! I have an EOS 300, but I got mine years and years ago, before digital cameras became affordable. I still have to get film developed. But anyway, it's really easy to use and I learnt a heap of cameraish stuff like apertures and so on, so now even I can take half-decent photos! I also have that same Tamron lens with a UV filter. It's great. Actually there is one thing I don't like about it. Batteries cost a hell of a lot to replace (for me anyway). I found out after Dad borrowed it one time and didn't turn it off. I hadn't used it for a while, and when I went to get it out the AF and shutter speed was going all haywire. I'm only nitpicking though, and that's all that's ever gone wrong except for the part behind the view finder that sometimes takes crap photos...

This is mainly for Collette but if anyone else has any info please post I'm about to buy a digital camera. I'm not really looking to spend as much as Collette because it's only a new hobby and I'm not sure how much I will get into it (or if I will even be any good) but I don't want something cheap and crappy that I will have to upgrade shortly. I'd like to get at least a few years out of it. As for features, I have no idea about digital cameras so I don't really know. The only thing I guess I'd like is using different lens and coloured filters (can you do that on a digital?). Thanks EDIT: Oh and I will only really be photographing bands, and taking arty type shots. And I guess the usual family/friend stuff too.

the 300D is such a fantastic camera! used it a few times at work...
We're also looking at getting the 350D in our department. Its such an amazing camera (350D) and small compared to the 300D!
have fun shooting!
