This is such a sad loss.
My heart goes out to his partner and his 2 daughters, family and friends.
His humour was infectious, his drumming brilliant, and from what i've read and heard, he was a really great guy.
Paul, Rest in peace.

"And you're full of the wonder of spring it's all sweetness and lightness you bring and a room full of people fall to your infinite charm but when darkness should quickly descend you go quietly, my miserable friend to the depths of despair you will crawl black and white boy"
it's slowly sinking in that one of the people responsible for making me love music so much is no longer.
Ciao Paul, you'll keep us smiling, remembering the good times to make us forget how you ended this life.

I was actually listening to Crowded House when I heard the news which was really weird. At first on the news they never mentioned how he died, so I had hoped it was just a rumour, but then I went to ninemsn and found out what happened It's terribly sad, and I'm shocked. He always seemed so happy. Whilst Crowded House was well and truly over, you just don't see someone who has been that successful (and seemingly so happy) doing something like this. Paul you will be missed, and I hope you've found peace now

Paul Hester was (and is) my favourite member of Crowded House, and also one of my favourite people in the world. He was so funny and sweet, and a great drummer. Apparently it's the creative geniuses that suffer manic depression/bipolar syndrome. And they hide it well. He will be sorely missed.
Crowded House was actually kind of a musical turning point for me, really influenced my taste in music. If I hadn't started listening to them, I may not be on SFK now, so I owe them that (before CH I liked Savage Garden lol heyyy I was 11!)
I was already gonna give my future son the middle name "Paul" in honour of both Paul Dempsey and Paul Hester, so you can guess how much I love him (them).
Rest In Peace, Hessie. You're free now.
