When facts don’t equal theories
“Mum’s died.”<br>So much can change. In the blink of an eye. I was laughing at life just a minute ago.
Everything moves at the speed of light. Yet time is frozen. A snapshot of the life cycle. I suppose.
The sky is so blue today. And it’s so lusciously warm. The facts don’t match the theory. It’s supposed to rain on days like this. Isn’t it?
Running like lunatics along the platform. We catch the train. It’s nearly midday. Fuck! Why don’t the trains ever run on time? Especially now, when we need them to.
I hold his head in my lap, Shield his dignity, From the curious, prying eyes. The man has become a boy again. Crying out for his mother. My beloved nonna.
I hold his shattered soul, The pieces wet upon my breast. I don’t know what else to do. There’s nothing I can do. Except listen to the fractured beat of our broken hearts.
