Excerpt from article with dempsey in the Daily Telegraph on May 9th.
The article is quite good - it will be posted @ the site in a day or so if you want to read the whole thing.
"the politics of being Paul"
.....
So, only a year on from the release of SFK's epic Monsters, the first single lifted off Echolalia ("It feels like longer," says Dempsey, "like this album has been out for ages but its only been eight or nine months,") it's plainly obvious that somewhere in Paul Dempsey's bag is a CD-burn of 12 new Something For Kate songs, completed demos, the unofficial raw follow-up.
The initial song which sparked this rush back into the studio, itself now nearly a year old, has the working title of Moving Right Along.
Written as Echolalia was being put to bed, there was even talk of slamming the stop button down at the CD pressing plant and finding space for it. "I think that would have been the best song on Echolalia," Dempsey says temptingly.
Dont get too excited, though, Dempsey hastens to add. He's still not sure whether he'll ever let us hear any of these new recordings.
"You know what we're like," he laughs. "We'll get 12 songs done and then we'll listen back to them and go "this is all shite!"
......
While we may never get to hear that 12-track demo, Dempsey promises that he'll air several of the new tracks on his upcoming national tour. Some, perhaps, for the first and final time.

These songs have to be released dammit!!
even if its not another album, how about just do what gomez did with 'Abandoned shopping trolley Hotline' and just release all the songs that would otherwise just dissapear...I want to hear 'Gouge Away' and 'Sleeping in Alignment'

I think that as much as we would like Moving Right Along to be on the new album that it wont happen.
Remember Hawaaiian Robots? I think by the time SFK are recording the album they will be sick of it, or it wont suit the style of songs they are writing at the time so it will become a b-side.

well it all sounds mighty fine ;D... even though they'll probably never release it ... they could even like just release it over the net like bands such as the smashing pumpkins, grant lee phillips...etc have done previously, even if its just for the sake of the fans

The more I think about it the more I dislike "Anchorman Pt2", the lyrics were just lame. Not that I was much of a fan of part 1 at any rate. Personally I think Anchorman is probably lyrically one of pauls weakest songs...what do other's think?

I really like the lyrics of Anchorman but I haven't heard Anchorman part 2.
What's so bad about part 2?
Anyway Anchorman is really good.
You've never met, someone you've never met...............

i can't remember all the lyrics to part 2, but in essence he was substituting a female anchor person for the origianl male person, i started getting an attack of the wobblies about this point. Sequels at the best of times are a dubious propersition...suggests lack of new ideas for starters.

anchorman part 2 (according to my version and my ears?)
through the narrow break i imagine i see your face everywhere your face like a diagram you count yourself lucky then you leave as fast as you can as fast as you can (x3)
did you hear the news? your voice moves through me like velvet and i can't stop listening, listening shut up, before you undo everything when the heroes are tied to the tracks i know you will save me save me (x2)
did you hear the news? (x2) did you hear the anchorman, screaming from the other room? breaking down on the air (x2) now who's gunna save me? who's gunna save me? save me

compared to:
anchorman
you've never met someone you've never met it's okay, it happened to someone you've never met so you can stay, you can remain fearless you can't hurt you don't know what what you don't know can't hurt you so at least today you can remain fearless fearless (x2) i remember you from the bar a charity gathering, five star i saw you swimming inside a star that was ready to blow us all apart like strong and distant moonlight the anchorman's voice (x3) like strong and distant moonlight the anchorman's voice guides me through the night like strong and distant moonlight the anchorman's voice guides me through the night the anchorman (x3) anchorman (x4)

I listened to this at ANU gig last Friday. It was piss funny - having been prefaced by "I won't back down" by either Tom Petty or the Travelling Wilburys.

in sydney he prefaced moving right along with i won't back down.
it seems to be my s4k experience that i like a song eventually. ie. that a song will eventually do something for you... after the last 2 nights my fave song at the moment is paintbrushes... its never really done anything to me before.
