i TOTALLY echo your sentiment. my fave SFK song ever is Submarine, so i'm defensive of the B Sides to answer your "why the hell wasn't it on echolalia?" question... i think you have to look at it in terms of how it would (or wouldn't) fit in the context of the album. SFK have so many excellent B-Sides that it seems unlikely that they simply 'prefer' the album tracks; rather, they probably just see the B-Sides as misfits - tracks recorded inbetween albums, rougher cuts, songs done by Paul alone, and tracks that are musically or thematically apart from their major releases. it makes the singles soooooo much cooler, too

Well yeah, I know...but I think it's better than a bunch of the album tracks

i think also it may not have been finished in time for the album....i think paul had a lot of trouble writing songs this time round, and they may not have had much choice between songs to put on the album. That said, an 'unfinished' s4k song refers more to the fact that the band either haven't played it enough times or that they're still searching for something to cap it off.

as noted, all the tracks on echolalia seem to be...'united' in a way, except maybe white, because it doesnt have the same feel. still, paul didnt want 14 tracks anyway when asked why hawaiian robots was excluded

I agree with astronaut - pd and co would have been looking for unity with the album songs. That said , the green line is beautiful!

Yep yep love the song. That is up there with Sleep Is Worth The Wait and Scientology as my favourite B-sides.

Lights go out, half past eight Insects come out to play It's this heat, it makes everybody crazy Through the void, weightless drifting Windows down, volume blasting One by one, a memory Ohh Folded page, friendly fire All this talk, wrapped in wire Yeah I know something you don't know They say you look different I say I've seen different As clear in my mind as it's ever been One eye always on you One eye always on the door One eye always on you One eye always on the door The words and the crowd The traffic and the crowd Nervous by themselves Take these things, and keep them Sing to them, and keep them One eye always on you One eye always on the door One eye always on you One eye always on the door One eye always on you One eye always on the door One eye always on you One eye always on the door On the door
