but i doubt sfk will be really sad and release a 'best of' anytime soon, they'd have more sense. just my two cents, but i think its stupid when bands release a best of after less than 6 years of action. you have to earn yourself the chance to release a best of i reckon. Alot of bands do that when they're trying to get out and negotiate a new record contract - eg. they were signed to sony for x albums, it would be one less album for them to create. It works both ways though as some record companies make them if a band's decided to switch labels - i think that's why the silverchair one came about - it alows them to make a few extra bucks.

Astronaut: poor clint, seems the boys just can't get a word in edge ways when steph is around (did you know that language developed from the gossiping of women ).

i could make some REALLY sexist comments here dirtgirl... but i'm just not that kind of guy.
Clint's a drummer... nuff said ;D Let's face it, the fact he can talk at all is a surprise.
Before I get abused senseless, I'm just stirring people... I promise I'm just stirring...

The thing is, I can't really imagine Clint being a quiet person...it'd have to be pretty hard for him to make contributions to interviews, especially when half the time they have him sitting the furtherest away from the interviewer...someone should do an interview with just Clint, I think it'd be very funny.
Re the chair's greatest hits - I'm pretty sure silverchair didn't want it released, sony released it when they left...I think silverchair even went to the point of telling people not to buy it. ;D

hey. . i talked to clint once and he has a lot to say. . . and steph has prior "dealing with media" experience from Sandpit, she was more or less their spokesperson, particularly when they were touring with superjesus during 97 . .. .. dont dis steph. . . she was in sandpit. . .

I agree, especially with indecision, people shouldn't dis clint - lets not forget that while paul is the head and steph the feet (poor analogy here ), clint is the soul... (has anyone else aside from anarchitect actually had a convo with drummer boy - he is probably the most literate of the lot of them!). If fact I'm sick of the stupidity leveled at drummers. Take Kram from spiderbait as a case in point! He's a top articulate bloke (likes soccer, can string mulitiple words together to make sentences AND he sings whilst playing the drums (very co-ordinated!) - what more does a girl want or need? ). Rendered pointless: you misogynistic tendencies are scaring me

I think a covers album... Just covers of songs they like or grew up with, some they love, some they thought had potential but were done badly, some they think would be funny to cover and some that would just sound good. And perhaps they could put a new spin on Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" (thanks Wil Anderson for bringing it up. I'm shamefully confessing that I might still have the cassette single of that song... Come on I was 11!)
Here's my SFK covers album: (they might include Harpoon, Ordinary World, Dreamworld and Truly but I'll leave them out and give you ten or so covers)
Corduroy (Pearl Jam) We Haven't Turned Around (Gomez) The One I Love (REM - it's been done live, right!) I Got You (Split Enz) Supreme (Robbie Williams) One (Metallica) My Hero (Foo Fighters) Rapper's Delight (Sugarhill Gang - this one could feature vocals from Paul as Wonder Mike, Clint as Hank and Steph as Master Gee - although we'll forgive them if they can't do all 14 minutes of hip-hop) The talking heads song ("and you may ask yourself how did I get here?" "this isn't my beautiful wife" and all that) Apartment (Custard) and finally: Heavy Heart (You Am I - features hidden bonus track of You Am I covering Before Butterflies' Wings)

When I talked to Clint he was a *total* champ. I talked to Paul first, who said all of about 3 words, so I was feeling rather cut. But then Clint came along, (sloshed off his nut I might add) and was more than happy to talk to me for ages! That man is a champion, I tells you... And piss funny when drunk, also. ;D

sfk should help out the struggling school system and put out "paul's kind to physics and all that other stuff you have no idea about" haha he could just make up all the songs , chuck in electricity and all the other higher thinking songs he had made would be interesting Nathan

Captain BJ - awesome call. Particularly on Rapper's Delight ;D I'd like to see them cover some Pumpkins, maybe Disarm? Or (and this IS serious, I swear to God) some Simon and Garfunkel - probably Sounds Of Silence, though Paul has the wrong voice. Can anyone else think of any?
How I am misogynist because of a flippant half-comment, I am as yet unaware... guess I must be ignorant as well. Throwing around big words because of an innuendo that along with many others (men? and toilet seats? Why, who'd have thought?) has been thrown back and forth between the sexes for aeons accomplishes little.
The drummers I know are wonderful and intelligent people. Two of my closest friends are drummers. One of them has saved my arse countless times. The sooner some people learn to laugh because of stereotypes aimed at different occupations (i.e. drummer = stupid) the better I, and many others, will feel. Kram, Dave Grohl, Ben Folds (did you know he started as a drummer?), Lars Ulrich, Danny Carey (the drum God!), Jimmy Chamberlain and yes, dear old Clint, are all incredible musicians (among a hundred others) who often play other instruments and nearly always bless their respective bands with creativity and emotional depth in playing. Clint's performance in Captain is my favourite - his drums set the stage for the entire song, it just doesn't sound as good without them.
Re: >>>...someone should do an interview with just Clint, I think it'd be very funny. <<< As I recall, someone has (Drum? It was a while back). They asked him who he would contact if some sort of emergency occured. His response went along the lines of "Dempsey... he's pretty cluey. Ashworth too. Then maybe some sort of talking monkey... I've heard they're handy to have around, when you want a clear answer and workable solution." Good to see along with intelligence that he has a sense of humour...

On Channel V today, they showed an interview with just Paul and Clint from the Melb. BDO. It was cool. Clint spoke lots and he just makes me so happy watching him talk, like he always seems so excited and stuff. Aww. BreƱa

i think something for kate should release a low fat, non stick grill ala George Foreman. You'll never have to cook your meats in a pool of grease again. The run-off grease would be carried off into a separate tray by the patented grooves on the Something For Kate Grill. You'll have to try it to believe it! You could cook cheeseburgers, a piece of steak or you may grill vegetables along side your shredded beef for tacos. The possibilities are are endless.
about the channel v interview - if i get off my lazy ass, i'll make an mp3 or a real media file today, so everyone can listen to it!

you'd have to give the grill a catchy and futuristic name....like the S4 Kate Bake!
