I didn't quite rain, it was very over cast all day, a touch of sprinkle here and there.....
Paul commented that it was perfect s4k weather....hmmmmm
They played Dean Martin early on, as well as 20 years, 3d, hallways, captain got a good response (can't remember the order...) the non-single echo songs were jerry, stand up; seasick; and say something to close....jerry got a very good response....i'm tipping that jerry might be the next single?
paul played solo, saying he hasn't played this song in a while, i swear it sounded like he was going to play pinstripe, but he went truly. truly awesome.
the band played pinstripe next i think, just the 3 of them.
but over all it was a bit dissappointing. It was absolutly packed, but no one was dancing, moshing (cept lil ole me....yep, i was that dickhead pogo-ing to dean martin) Dempsey asked a couple of times "are you guys alive?"
Hi lites of the day were Gerling (ken brilliant....and the crowd loved 'em), Eskimo Joe (very good, finished with a cover of "i got you") and, of course, machine gun fellatio, who despite some power failures, still rocked on, with streamer-fireworks, a cunning stuntwoman on roller blades, chitchat crowd surfing and singing at the same time, some dancers on stilts, and chit chat doing some unmentionable acts to a winnie the pooh bear. Gives a hole new meaning to honey pot....wink wink

i forgot, s4k also played dreamworld!!!!!!! awesome!!! paul introduced it by saying that seeing as homebake is a celebration of aussie music, then they would play a song from a great aussie band as a tribute.....

also forgot to mention i wore a shirt with dempseys autograph on the front pocket, and "what would dempsey do?" on the back.
gotta love home made shirts.
At the end of the day, home bake is great for purving and checking out the crazy fashions. Like the teen boys who spray dye their hair all exactly the same colour. Best lot this year were some crazy yobs with beer hats and red singlets on which they'd written "Homer Bake" with pictures of homer.....

Heard from people on the You Am I list that Pauly was a bit upset with the sound? Bet none of you Homebakers went and saw the Gurus did ya? Didn't think so What I wouldn't 'ave given to see them play, and I don't know a soul who'd go watch them with me Madness

the hoodoo gurus played a secret gig (well tried to keep it secret, someone spilled on the radio) @ a small club in town here and it was absolutely amazing!
i think it was meant to be the first time theyd played together for about 4 years, and they wanted to warm up before homebake...

They played some gigs in Perth a week or so back as...crap, don't remember the name, but it begins with P...anyway, yeah, they wouldn't play any Gurus tracks though, guess they wanna keep the two outfits seperate
Long live the Gurus!

On the topic of home-made t-shirts, I saw someone the other day wearing a top that said "what would dempsey do" on the front and something about signing the shirt on the back (couldn't read it that well).
So was this person someone from here?
