I've been wondering for a while why there are no SFK music books. If anyone knows the answer 2 this please lets us know.

Because most of the songs are tabbed on this webpage. Why waste money on a publication when thousands will do it for free.

Although, it would be interesting to see an “official” version of the tabs from the writer/s of the songs.

my view on it is that music books are not usually seen for smaller/lesser known artists. perhaps it's because of the costs, or the market for it.
i guess it'd also have to do with the choice of the artists to release their version of the music. which it isn't always, in any case. it could just be someone "official"s interpretation, i think ? they might like to keep it to themselves, from large scale distribution, at least.

i'm pretty sure that the artist doesn't actually tab the music themselves for those official guitar books. they're usually on par though anyway, compared to the online ones which can be iffy.

There are some really sub-standard online tabs, but really kids, tab books are generally a waste on money. Again, as Kim-b stated, these tab books are not the artists exact works, and are basically yet another musical interpretation of an artists work. We all have fairly good hearing so why cant we do it ourselves. (my condolences to the hearing impaired, rash statement). We don’t need these overpriced, poorly researched toilet paper all-sorts. The anti “tab as gospel” revolution begins here.

"sub-standard online tabs"?
Where are your 'worthwhile' contributions?

I only ever said that there were “some…substandard online tabs" and If you had bothered to check the tab archive before you set out on your angry girl crusade you would find what I think are my “worthwhile” contributions.

yeh i only have one tab book and i don't agree with it...
i don't advise anyone to buy the tab book for pearl jam's 'ten'
i already had good versions of the tabs, but i dunno, i wanted it anyway cos it's pearl jam but a lot of it is "innaccurate" (and i'm quoting mike mccready there) and lots of the artists whose tab books are out can't even read proper music sheets (pearl jam again) i'm gonna try and stop talking about pearl jam on this board but i'm sorry! haha
yeh plus 'most' (some tabs are atrocious) of the tabs you can find are correct, and if not are easy to figure it out for yourself as they will at least give a starting point

well yeah.
personally i don't think i play any song i play exactly like it's supposed to be. i'm always adding in random stuff here and there.
yeah i'm so rebel.
ofcourse sfk is another story cause i can't work out shit all of some songs.
but hey yeah some people want to play exactly and sound like exactly what other songs are but i don't see the attraction in that.
ofcourse i'm not satisfied with how i play ANY sfk songs really cause they're difficult and you need like gigantor hands and stuff.

In a recent webchat someone asked Paul about the prospect of sfk tab books. I believe he said [roughly] that they would be open to it if the possibility arose, but it was a very long and tedious process.
