In that price range, I doubt you'd find anything that would be what your looking for in a guitar... sorry to say.

Steph,
You would want to probably spend a bit more cash than that. You wont get much of an acoustic guitar with a pick up for that kind of money.
Decent brands to look for in that price range are Ibanez (maybe not the specific model Pepe bought), monteray and Yamaha.
if i had to choose one i would say Yamaha. Good value guitars.
I also know for a fact they make a thinline style of acoustic too. As for price, you are probably looking at RRP of abot $800. probably take 20% off that for in store price.
Just play as many as you can to find out what you like.
If you want good advice/service go to Turrumurra music. they will look after you.
Cheers,
Jarrod

I think he meant Turramurra... my uncle is a music teacher and only buys his things from there, despite the fact he lives 4 1/2 hours away.
It's on the North Shore... St Ives, Gordon, Pymble type area I think.

and the one on pitt street near that cheap CD place...mind blank. The guys in there just like to palm you off and play riffs and hit on your friends, great stuff. Lotsa help there. Alan’s Music? I think... I took my old broken high E string into Venue Music to get a new one and the guy in there could tell exactly what gauge it was by looking at it for a second! That's some superpower.

Steph, Turramurra is up north in the Hornsby, Pymble, Gordon area. Have a squizz at whereis.com to find out exactly where. The store is on Pacific Highway. Heres a link: www.turramusic.com.auPlease, never go into venue again unless they have a sale that is rediculously cheap. Most of the guys that work their are wankers and dont know thier stuff and the will try and ripp you off royally (from my experience). When I was younger i got screwed on a couple of things. Most of the staff at turramurra are older, know their stuff and really help you out with a no pressure sales approach. I know one of the guys that works there and would never go anywhere else for advice. They will not ripp you off either. Might be a good idea do a bit of research too. if you see one you like but dont want to pick it up straight away, a good site to check out is www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/. There is a huge review database where you will more than likely find some reviews on the guitar/s you are interested in. Good idea to take the reviews with a grain of salt though. look for common complaints among them. Hope this helps and good luck! Jarrod

Steph, i would have to agree with Jarrod on this one, the staff at Turramurra Music are very helpful. I was having some problems with Protools and they helped me out a lot. I would highly recommend them! I have also experienced the guys at Venue and unfortunately they were not very helpful at all. They stuffed me around for weeks over something that should have been simple to fix. Not happy. Im not sure where you are located, but another store you may like to have a look at is My Music. www.mymusic.com.au they are located at Penrith and have quite a few Acoustic Electric guitars between $300 up to $1500. I hope this has been of some help!. Cheers Matt

Hi Steph, I would have to reccommend a Fender JG - 26SCE acoustic/electric. It may be a bit out of your price range (around $800 i think) but I bought one early this year and I haven't put it down since. It's fantastic. I couldn't praise it enough and it has received copliments from many people (including my uncle who is a professional guitar maker). Anyway... good luck finding a guitar that suits you . Pat
