A while back I saw this product on the net. It was like a small tube set-up that could be plugged straight into a mix or a box or whatever, like a mini tube amp. Does anyone know exactly what it is or called?

Seasick,
I think Matt nailed it above but what is it exactly you want to do with it?
It is a mic pre-amp so it boosts the signal coming from the microphone. I get the feeling from your post that you may want to plug your guitar into it to give you "tube like" tone which unfortunately it does not do!
Try the behringer V-amp or line 6 POD for type of deal....no tubes but very good sounds
Hope this helps! (or i have totally mis0understood your question)

Sorry guys, but that's not the product I was looking for! Basically it's a small rack with actual tubes. It isn't digital at all. It has some pedal switches on it and is meant to be used as a preamp. "I get the feeling from your post that you may want to plug your guitar into it to give you "tube like" tone which unfortunately it does not do!" This is exactly what it was meant to do (I do have a tube amp btw... a carvin club master... I'm just thinking for the future) Cheers anyway! Jarrod.

Mate i have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Can you be a bit more descriptive? The only thing that comes to mind is the Vox tonelab which is basically a digital peadal board with inbuilt simulations and effects that you can plug straght into a desk or pc or whatever. It is powered by a 12AX7 valve to give you the tube like feel. Is that what you mean? www.voxamps.co.uk/products/tonelab/tonelab_se.htm

Think of a small rack, with four tubes in it. You plug your guitar into it, and you plug it into a box or pa or mixer. It basically is a tube amp, except without much bar the tubes. I can't explain it any better than that Cheers for trying though!
