Who applied for uni next year? What course? I applied for a transfer from Monash to Melbourne, but my marks aren't good enough to get in so I already know the answer.

Being a year 12 student I applied for some courses. But I just got my results back and they're not as good as I'd expected. Luckily there is such a thing as change of preferences. I'm looking into either Psychology/ Behavioural Science or Teaching. Has anyone had prior experience in either of these areas?? If so feedback is muchly appreciated

What type of teaching are you thinking about Jerry? High School teaching? I started a degree in secondary (high school) education and then realised a semester later that it wasn't for me. If you like ordering around children and trying to get them motivated then go for it, but if you couldn't give a rat's arse about why the dog ate their homework then I wouldn't recommend it. Teaching really is a lot of work (I know from my own limited experience, and also since my dad's a high school teacher) and the pay is relatively quite low. If you're still interested in teaching I'd suggest adult education. TAFE teachers for example are paid $47 an hour (much more than high school teachers). Either that or I'd go with your first idea if I were you. Good luck.

I agree, Mark. I would much prefer to be a TAFE teacher. * Not that I have any intention to.

I was thinking Primary School Teaching or Year 11 and 12. I wouldn't want to teach Years 7-10. But I think I'm just going to stick to my first preference. The only good things about teaching is you'd get paid to go on excursions and lots of holidays!

...but I'm just scraping through Biomed at Monash. Melbourne are going to stick their noses up at me. And I want to do Dental Science so yeah... no hope. I'll try harder next year & see how I go. (That's what they all say). I hope you get into Melb!

The only good things about teaching is you'd get paid to go on excursions and lots of holidays! Except you have to look after 30+ kids on excursions and the holidays may seem a lot but they're not when you're writing lesson plans at home, marking assignments, etc for the most of them.
