i'll stop you before you get a fourth, evil fishboy!
I went for: Coldplay - A rush of blood to the head Doves - The Last Broadcast Idlewild - The remote part Foo Fighters - one by one Wilco - Yankee/Hotel Foxtrot
Runners up were, Queens of the Stoneage, Oasis, Augie March, The Vines, Pacifier, Audioslave, Pearl Jam and You Am I.
I seem to go in patches where i will buy lots of cd's in a short period of time and then not buy any for ages. Though it generally seems to be linked to my income rising and falling, when i have it i spend it. Before i buy a cd i usually try and read a few reviews, and here a few songs by either downloading or listening to the radio. Getting a shit cd is probably one of the worst feeling when your shopping, because you can't really do anything about it. Whats worse is soon they are introducing cd's that can't be ripped to mp3 so sampling music before you buy it will impossible. Fucking record companies are evil, they should all be shot.

If I had regular money again then I probably would have bought more CDs, but I'd still find it hard spending $30 on something I knew little to nothing about. Does anyone here just buy an album you know nothing about and hope that you'll like it? i came home from my 2nd trip to melbourne with 50-odd cds alone. it's an obsession. i buy buy buy. especially when they're cheap. damn hmv and jb and everyone. and yeah, i often do. usually if you guys are raving about something, i'll give it a go, because hell, you like sfk, so it has to be half decent. it's also a good way to discover something new - something that isn't sfk. and so far, you've all been pretty spot on. thank god.

it is hard to trust peoples judgement on music. one rule i have learnt is to never trust someone who likes Bjork, i can't stand her

Well I can truthfully say that I don't have any CDs that I dislike or hate at all. Sometimes pays to be careful.

That's true, that's the downside. There's a lot of good bands & artists that I've found out about later on. Something For Kate for example.

i generally like to experience an album at the time its out.... just so i get an idea of the impact of it at the time.... sometimes its hard to get into bands' early albums if they improve with each album.... i like to be there and watch the improvement. although, i still do get into some bands late.... i'm listening to kyuss nearly everyday now... i thought QOTSA were good, but then when i heard what Josh was doing before, it really does make QOTSA look pretty bad (only in comparison to kyuss, QOTSA are still very good though )

Does anyone here just buy an album you know nothing about and hope that you'll like it? Well, when I buy a CD, I more or less know nothing of it, they're mostly on the strength of the artist (as you've already stated). However, I bought 'Sunset Studies' (Augie March) a while back, not knowing anything about it, thank God it turned out to be a good album

i came home from my 2nd trip to melbourne with 50-odd cds alone. it's an obsession. i buy buy buy. especially when they're cheap. Speaking of cheap cd's, on my recent trip to Geelong I picked up a couple of bargains during the boxing day sales: 'Muse-Plug In Baby' single just $0.99 and I also spotted 'The Smashing Pumpkins-Stand Inside Your Love' single for $0.99. At those prices I couldn't resist. Considering the fact I would've brought both cd's at full price anyway I splurged and brought the only 3 copies left of the pumpkins single!

see, buying multiple copies of the same cd is just silly. (my 3 copies of echolalia don't count! or my 2 beautiful sharks. shh.)
