Brendan Shanahan, a music journalist for the Sunday Telegraph Sydney newspaper wrote an article about the 80s & early 90s. I probably should be sending weapons of mass destruction to him since he has made disparaging remarks about a band called Something For Kate but in this case his article was spot on. Oh, and FatherShark might be interested to know that he said "And was I the only one to notice that Alex Lloyd is looking a little like a Blue Hawaii-period Elvis?"
Anyway the 80s/early 90s article:
"The other day, a 10-year-old kid asked me what a Walkman was and, for the first time since I told someone I was 23, then realised I'd forgotten that I was in fact 24, I had cause to feel old. What really makes me feel old, however, is the fact that, ... "
Well that's all you can read of the article. I threw the paper away and that's all you can read on the online archives without paying a fee. Does anyone else find it a bit far-fetched how movie characters can find info on the net without getting out their credit card once?
Anyway, the article from memory; he said that he told a 15 year old girl that he liked her 80s jumper. "It's not 80s!" she replied defensively, "I only bought it last week!". Then he did the maths and realised that she wouldn't have been in the school system when the bicentennial happened in 1988. She wouldn't have a bicentennial medal! That's the trouble with kids these days. They think Avril Lavigne is punk! They think The Vines are "hardcore"! How many former Boyzone members does it take before the UN declares 2002 the International Year of Bad Music? 2002, the year that saw half-baked, deeply mediocre garage bands elevated to greatness by virtue of having a name in which "The'' preceded a noun. I'm gonna change my name to The Brendan. Maybe then, someone will throw money and fame my way. Farewell the 80s.

Roxette - I used to love them when I was in early primary school. I stole some of their cassettes off my dad, I also have their greatest hits album on CD Billy Corgan's religious beliefs - I have no idea?!? But I do agree there are alot of references to God etc....in his work. Fathershark how could you ever put the Billy Corgan on the same list as Alex Lloyd. That is pure evil.
