Does "always showing a lack of interest" constitute being called an interest?

Okay, here's the thread inspired by the Born to Run and other covers thread.
Thinking about bands that you like, what song defines them (not suggesting Monsters defines SFK, keep reading) or radio stations seem to get stuck playing for enternity, sometimes long after they've had other singles or albums released.
Examples;
Eskimo Joe - From the Sea (although the new single is getting some airplay) Guns n Roses - Sweet Child o Mine (although it may contradict what I said about radio always playing their version of Knocking of Heaven's Door, they had so many other songs to choose from rather than SCOM). Pearl Jam - Betterman

Not Betterman for Pearl Jam.
Surely Alive, Jeremy or even Evenflow. Betterman was just played heaps because it was released recently.

Yeah, for me Pearl Jam is Evenflow.
Pink Floyd - Echoes. Surely it must atleast define SOMETHING in all that time.
The Smiths - This Charming Man. I know this can be contested, but to me it's the first song i think of when i think The Smiths.
