Don't you love it when you find a band you really dig, whose existence was previously unknown to you?
Well maybe not unknown, but maybe you'd only ever heard their name in whispers when lurking in the isles of your favourite second hand record store.
Me, I love it when I see one of these band's albums for cheap and can finally give them a listen.
This happened to me in the case of The Smiths and, just this past week, King Crimson.
Yes, their music had been appreciated for many a moon before I actually heard them, but once I did, I understood what folks were on about.
I was just wondering, what sorta-pretty-well-known bands were you almost completely ignorant of before you finally gave them a listen? Chances are, I'm probably still ignorant of them...

Well...bands like Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene werent exactly "unknown" to me before I heard them, but I felt like they more than lived up to their hype so that was good

king crimson = good
i'm totally ashamed to admit i've only just got into paradise lost. they have 10 albums, most of my favourite bands have been compared to them, but i was just too lazy to check them out. but i finally bothered and they are awesome

ok, reviving an old thread as I have to admit some sad sad things. Didn't start listening to most the bands I listen to now til later on after big things. IE: Tool, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, The Clash (cmon, I'm only 21), Mudvayne
