They don't need the same actors, (look at Episode I) and even if they did, they could just set it 30 years later or something.
As for the books, well yes they may have been authorised and part of it and all, but they were just moneymakers. Lucas has stated a few times that he is not bound by the books when making Episodes I, II and III.

right. i jumped in on this one very late in the game, as i haven't been around, but ehh. lord of the rings is now my second biggest obsession (SFK being the first, lol) i read the books well before i saw the movie. i LOVED the movie. simply fucking brilliant. three million thumbs up. the ideals of middle earth are way better than the ones we hold true today, i want to jump into the book and not come back. anyways. hehe. yeah. my 2 cents. hi again.

LOTR fans should check out flyingmoose.org/tolksarc/theories/theories.htmesp. "The Truth about Tom Bombadil" My fave is "Ten Rejected Lord Of The Rings Plot Twists" including "Orc-slaughter competition between Legolas and Gimli becomes so fierce, they take to killing some of the smaller, uglier men of Gondor"

Well I put off seeing LOTR for fucking ages after it came out, because I got bored just sitting through the previews. Even though all my friends saw it and said they loved it, I still wouldn't. Eventually one of my friends offered to pay for my ticket and said I should see it just so that I'd know what everyone was talking about, and that I'd end up loving it. Well I saw it. And as I suspected, I was not a big fan. That sorta stuff just doesn't appeal to me.

The Harry Potter movie and star wars are like Doctor Pepper, tastes like shit but everyone drinks it.
