I have a burning question. I am really interested to know what SFK fans think of the lord of the rings movie. I figure that people that listen to intelligent and epic style songs would have some sort of interest in classic literature. I saw it personally about an hour ago and I'm still dazed. I think its one of, if not the best movie I've ever seen. The scenery, the acting, the everything, every fine detail. It was such an emotional rollercoaster, light and dark, and when it was dark - it was purest evil. I dont know why all the fuss is about Harry Potter, I reckon it's a mere pimple on the bum of LOTR. Id like to know what everyone else thinks.

yeah .. harry potter. . what a crock of shite .. .
J.R.R Tolkein is one of the more respected and legendary writers of our time. . . can i say any more??? ..
I saw LOTR today and i was left on a high . .i just want more. . .im gona read the trilogy again. . (and again) . . . for those of you who have seen the film . .is Gimli the man or what??!!
LOTR rocks my world . .. .i dont know if i would call it one of the best movies that i have seen (it certainly kicks ass) but it is extremely well staged and well constructed in all aspects. . not too many faults there. Good work Peter Jackson (director)
i cant wait till the next one of the epic comes out .. i just want more
and harry potter. . . go home

harry potter the movie wasnt too bad actually. i started the book though, and i just dont get what is so great about it. i put it down after 5 chapters. dunno. yet to see lotr, but my dad hates it because it has no ending. i know its not meant to, but that would really frustrate me too if i ever did see it. it needs some sort of ending.

The movie does in fact have an ending, you'll just have to wait until part 2 & possibly 3 enter the cimemas. Part 2 is due to hit the silver screen in about 12 months(?) and as to and if part three exists it will be quite a ways down the track. The entire story has been filmed but I guess it was just to long a movie to sit through, considering the first instalment occupied 3 hours of a day. I saw LOTR a few days ago and was very impressed. I haven't read the book before which in a way was good as I could watch the movie in an unobjective frame of mind, and I have heard a lot of people whine at the supposed differences between the literary classic and the movie. I going to hopefully obtain a copy of the book in the not so distant future.

I saw it today and can see why its getting mixed reviews...even out of my friends, a couple didn't really like it, some did (me included). It was very long and being the first in the trilogy, wasn't at the height of eventfulness. Some people I'm sure would get bored which is fair enough, but I liked it. And as I said to one of my friends who was complaining about the lack of ending "you only have to wait 2 years to see the end". But its great, really.

umm about harry potter.. has anyone noticed that the movie is just themes taken from star wars and set in medievil fantasy times instead of space? blah. anyway. i'm proud of my little brother for being one of the only 11 years olds i know to be completely unimpressed by the books and think the movie is a crock of shit. giddyup. and lotr was excellent. i loved it - very true to the book (except from the car driving past when they are walking through that field at the start.. that's a bit of an oversight ;D) i too must complain about the lack of closure but its a hard one, coz i know thats how it was in the book too... so....damn i just liked the fact that in star wars each episode had a definite ending and you left thinking 'YEAH BABY! the universe is safe!' but lotr is definitely 'you dragged me through three hours of all that cool intense stuff to get to the WELCOME MAT of the ADVENTURE? bastards!' but again its in the book..... if you cant already tell, its eating me up inside. i suppose it's very clever marketing though coz i bet they'll rerelease number one for the big screen when number two comes out, so you can watch them back to back. and then a movie marathon when 3 comes out OOOOOOO NOW I'M HANGING OUT FOR A MARATHON OF ALL 9 STAR WARS MOVIES! hook me up to a drip and give me a colostomy bag and matchsticks for my eyes. i'll be right. may the Frodo be with you

Haven't seen LOTR yet (been out past the black stump, somehow think I better read the book before seeing the film). Did see Monsters however and I agree with spongeboy and glenny boy that little boo is the cutest... (Only problem with Monsters Inc was that it left me feel really clucky! ).

There are no plans for 7-9. That doesn't mean there will be none. Did anyone ever read the Star Wars books that were supposed to follow Return of the Jedi? Basically just people cashing in on the Star Wars phenomenon. I chose to ignore them. Thought it would spoil the originals. I also have refused to see Cruel Intentions 2. I choose to believe it never existed. Haven't seen or read LOTR or Harry Potter. No interest.

The books that follow that follow the movies number well over thirty now, and are considered part of the *official Star Wars universe*, and were authorised by George Lucas, so ner But I honestly don't believe there'll be 7, 8 & 9, the actors have grown up, and the story arc has come to a close.

[glow=red,2,300], and the story arc has come to a close. [/glow] you mean its stoped making money.....
you've also got to remember that these films arn't copying star wars, as star wars wasn't the original. Star Wars is based on the story elements of the ancient myths.....there are always common elements...hero's path to enlightenment....find a key....defeat the gatekeeper...etc. etc. Give my LOTR any day over Star Wars....

you mean its stoped making money..... Heh, you're kidding right? Star Wars was written as an ode to Flash Gordon and the like, I wouldn't suggest that anything ripped Star Wars off, 'cause that'd be hypocritical
