i'm thinking that i'm rather dissapointed that a quality act such as bluebottle kiss didn't even make it into the top one hundred songs of the year. also i think the 'top ten' sucked big time.. of course with the exception of a few(!) any one elses' thoughts on the issue?

I think that there's little use in being disappointed for long over it. It's not one person's opinion, it's based on the votes of everyone. I'm sure there are people that like Bluebottle Kiss.
And besides, polls like this change every day. Look at the Net 50. They don't often have the same 50 songs in two weeks in a row. They usually have a different number 1. It changes. Maybe next week SFK would have been #1. It's just a poll, it just happens to be a big one that's an excuse to start drinking at 10am . ;D

Its definatly not the hottest 100 songs of 2001......I dont think there would be many something for kate fans would would see 'Monsters' as the best sfk song of the year........but most would have voted for it..........I think the fact that you can vote multiple songs is a negative means people are voting for songs that they just like a little......as opposed to only voting for there fave song of the year
Um that said I dont think the results of hottest 100 were that bad this year......though I wasnt a big fan of the song at number 3

If you cast your mind back to when "Pretty Fly For A White Guy" made number one, it makes this years results seem a lot better. ;D

From a socialogical point of view, i think Smooth Criminal suffered this year from the "Pretty Fly" syndrome. ie. people are weary now of voting in a really, reeally, reeeally annoying song. The sucess of "Pretty Fly" signalled an end of innocence to the Hottest 100.
What intrigues me is this - how much effect does the station playlist have on the Hottest 100? I am totally baffled by Eskimo Joe's victories - 3 songs (Wake Up, Who Sold Her Out, Planet Earth), but it has been Sydney Song that has been being played heaps of late and into the voting lead up, despite not being a single (yet?), and probably played more than any of the other ones that made, with maybe Wake Up the exception (first rule of socialogy - there is always an exception (please note that this rule is not subject to itself, so no paradox exists...))

well at the melbourne big day out, i think i commited a sin that will see me outcasted from this message board forever... for you see after witnessing sfk 6 times within the last year, and already seeing the previous setlists were mainly new tracks, i was persuaded by my associates to...wait for it....see gerling instead...who i'd never seen before live and enjoyed quite a bit. Basement Jaxx and the White Stripes were my highlights - I did feel like a bit of an idiot wearing a jerry and the manmade sharks shirt and at the same time not seeing sfk play...i only hope you all can forgive me

Awww I'd say after seeing them six times, then you're allowed to skip them for Gerling. B'sides, Dust Me Selecta is great for dancing like fool...SFK aren't really, heehee The Shite Stripes annoy me, but the Fell In Love With A Girl clip is pure gold

Father, forgive me for I have sinned... Due to other commitments (something about fucking lying, cheating kaffas - (i need new friends, the bastards)), i had to totally miss the BDO and therefore didn't see the sfk crew at all (PS to tour organisers/event promoters - which dickhead was responsible for putting the BDO and cricket on the day bloody day? Christ, it's not like real entertain comes to Perth every fucking weekend - majorly pissed. Some bastard's gonna burn in HELL for this )

i guess. i mean, i was a bit disappointed with their performance at the bdo. mainly because of them playing all their new stuff and the distance between me and paul, despite me being in the second row. he is so small in all the photos i took. its not fair.
