they were forced? i thought it was their idea (maybe they were forced by their consciences....)
i guess its similar to massive attack during the gulf war changing their name to just massive....though antrax didn't change their name during their comeback tour last year...

well i think the band wants to crack the US market, and it would be stupid to try under the name shihad. They've made such a big deal about the name change here, that it's not going to affect album sales in Oz and NZ, so why not.

maybe they should rename themselves to General Electric - i can't think of any problems america would have with that.......plus in the future they can just claim that their last album was called shihad full stop

It was said on TripleJ a while ago, that "remote" was what the band were thinking of....though i don't think it's confirmed or anything.
