Hi guys, I was thinking about all the music I listen to earlier on. The main things are- SFK Bluebottle Kiss Augie March Motor Ace Sandpit Tylea (from Gota Cola) I realised that all these bands are associated with sfk in some way. Jamie Hutchings and Glenn Richards sang on Scared of Horses and their bands have supported them. SFK have played with Motor Ace. Steph used to be in Sandpit. Tylea is part of Gota Cola, who have supported SFK. Anyway, most of the time the case is, if they've had something to do with SFK, I seem to have an interest in them. So now I want to get into 'Sea Life Park' and 'Ninety Nine' (SLP supported on the singularity tour, laura macfarlane from 99 sang on soh) Anyway, I'm finding it difficult finding things about these bands, so if anyone can give me any links where i can find information, or download mp3s by Sea Life Park or Ninety Nine, that would be great! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Collette

My defination of "Something for Kate Related Bands" would be more specific than just bands having supported Something for Kate. I'd include Sandpit obviously, Sidewinder (Pip's band or ex band yeah?), John's Myth (Paul's sister's band), and Wally Gunn.
But I see what you're saying. I might not have got into Blueline Medic if I hadn't seen them open for Something for Kate. Speaking of Blueline Medic, there's a line in their song Plight 217 that had me wondering;
find your seat, fish out your walkman Kate...
A Something for Kate connections perhaps?
Also there's the bands & artists that Something for Kate themselves admire such as Midnight Oil, REM, Fugazi, Bahaus, Tori Amos, Neil Young, et al.
I was looking through the book/music/video recommendations section on sfk.com recently and coincidently they've been reading/listening/watching some of the same stuff we have, hmm.

and I'm hoping the reason you've all been doing this is not that you are mindless sheep.
I've not listened to a whole lot of new music in the last 6 months (I've been too busy with the mortgage, job, and uncontrollable sex industry addiction), BUT I have been casting my ears back further in time.
I listened to "Reeling in the Years" by Steely Dan in the car yesterday (on one of my 70's MP3 compilations - stuff like Lennon & Neil Young) and I f*cking LOVED it.

and I'm hoping the reason you've all been doing this is not that you are mindless sheep. Just because the members of Something for Kate like something doesn't automatically mean the rest of us will. Nevertheless, there do seem to be some perhaps coincidental similarities in taste.

hey, EdVed - do you like "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones? I've always like the Sundays cover, but have enjoyed the original of late.

speaking of Ryan Adams - I downloaded him performing "Rocketman" alongside Elton John (who was pretty cool back in the day). It's a mad arse rendition.

and he's got a hella ego too - which is always good for a music personality... he got a bad review written by Greville Records’ owner Warwick Green in Rhythms magazine, Adams called up the shop and left a message inviting Green to come backstage so Adams could “knock his f…ing teath down his throat”.
Plus at one of his melbourne shows a fan requested "summer of 69", so he raised the house lights, called security, yelled "Get that guy out of here! Of all the things to yell out! I’m serious, give that guy his money back!” and got them to escort him out of HIS show...

Which brings me back to the argument of wether you should seperate the artist from the person.
I think no. A Wanker Plumber, a Wanker Bank Teller, and a Wanker Musician are all wankers - regardless of the fact they clean your toilet, deposit your cheques, or write and perform music that distracts you from the mundane nature of your life for 5 seconds.
Bring the the heads of the Gallagher Brothers.
