That shits me about Triple M... How can they consistently ignore Australian rock legends (at Homebake, Paul called them Australia's most kickass rock band and I must say I agree) You Am I? And also how they play certain songs by a band but not others... Examples: Pearl Jam: lots of: Everything before Better Man/none of: everything No Code and beyond SFK: lots of: Monsters and 3d/none of: everything else (no Captain!) Foo Fighters: Generator and Learn To Fly/Breakout and everything pre-TINLTL Alex Lloyd: Amazing/everything else Faith No More: Epic/everything else Jebediah: Fall Down/everything else (getting a theme here?) Powderfinger: they've gotten better in the range but still very litle Double Allergic (no Living Type?!?!) OK Ev, let it go...

yeah, i prefer my cds most of the time. at least that way i have complete control over what im listening too. but then again, sometimes i like being surprised and just going with whatever they play - but that doesnt happen too often because they normally fuck it up by playing some stupid song that makes me want to hurl, and then theyve just ruined it altogether.

>>Powderfinger: they've gotten better in the range but still very litle Double Allergic (no Living Type!)<<
The only thing that shits me about this, is that when the Double Allergic songs came out, these sorta stations never would've played the material, however now, 5 years later when they're more commercially successful, they choose to start playing older material. Bullshit if you ask me.

I agree, although I'd prefer to hear them play it now they're popular than not at all.

as far as the hottest 100 goes, i'm guessing some songs are released both on an album and as a single (eg. mgf's mutha on a mota cycle)
then i suppose there is the issue of songs like drive by incubus, that didn't become popular until some time (2 years?) after its release, or laid by james, which has been rereleased on the american pie 2 soundtrack......or notional singles like beautiful sharks by some melbourne band....the whitlams no aphrodisiac wasn't a single until it won the hottest 100, tim freedman just gave the jays the album and said it was the single.
but all in all, i suppose there needs to be some cut off (eg australian release date), and i would have thought the jays were big enough to enforce it.
Also, i reckon s4kFM is an awesome idea, as long as there are no ads....i don't know how you could fund this.....
if people are interested in radio production, you should check local non profit community stations. they're always looking for help, and would be great experience.
Or you can set up your own short distance station for about $1000. ("You're listening to Sponge Radio")
