defenders of the earth..DEFENDERS! man the defenders of the earth ruled big time. they'd kick captain planet's ass any day. Defenders of the Earth were ultra coolness I agree, but not as good as Transformers. The Transformers would kick the Defenders arse (not 'ass' you American) any day. They'd just step on them. Please tell me you guys remember Widget? Purple alien who could change shapes? I'm well acquainted with my television. We've had some good moments over the years but I'm having a memory blank here. The Widgets? When were they on? oh and marky, i watches she-ra on video as a child, i too was educated You make me proud Amy.

'Here we see Ted Turner and Captain Planet celebrating world domination with a '90s high-five, after enslaving all the children’s' minds world-wide by playing their politically-correct cartoon, "Captain Planet & The Planeteers", in constant syndication. Turner is displaying his devious model of the Earth, that every super-villain seems to have, indicating that he has, in fact, taken over the world. Not only will Teddy own major cable networks and the Atlanta Braves, but he'll soon own the entire world.' 'We haven't seen the likes of Captain Planet in, like, 4 years. Rumor has it that Ted Turner laid him off during the AOL/Time Warner merge. He's been seen doing some birthday party appearances and some male stripping with the whole "superhero" gimmick. The girls go nuts over that.' 'Wherever you are, Captain Planet.. You're still in our hearts..'

i loved defenders of the earth. mandrake was my favourite.
captain planet wasn't bad. even though it was entirely saccharin & plastic, i think it could be sending kids a worse message. at least making them think about the environment.
and mark, you're adamant about the superiority of transformers. i was a big fan of this too. however, (this is a little before my time) but the Voltron camp (in my house, this was my sister) may have something to say a bout this, ie. that transformers was a poor rip off of voltron. (as were the power rangers) ??

(as were the power rangers) ?? Well yeah, I had/have the entire set of the Destructicons Transformers. All six of them combined to form Devastator. Roar!! I was the envy of my five year old peers. I remember watching Voltron too. I had/have three of them. I'm not sure which came first though - Transformers or Voltron. Although I know that Transformers originated in America until the Japanese saw it and said "hey, why didn't we make that?" so when Transformers the cartoon was cancelled, the Japanese picked up the rights and continued the show. Anyway, it's hard to compare Transformers to Voltron. Transformers had more depth. It functioned on many levels. It was a very intellectual show you know?
