ok i put it as 'home' because i see home as a nice place you go to i dont know i would refer to the countries where they come from as there place of residence but not 'home' as such. anyway IT is our place to step in if they come here and present themselves and are proven to be refugees it is ILLEGAL for australia not to accept them. regardless of your opinion its the law like i said if australia had not signed the 1951 convention they would be under no obligation to accept refugees but they did sign it....

i guess i should read up on this stuff. admittedly i don't know much about it, but it is just my opinion, and at the end of the day it isn't my problem either. call me heartless, but i can't do anything about it, so worrying about it wont get me anywhere anyway.

thats what annoys me most about this, the fact that a lot of people dont know much about it and that the gov, being a typical gov, play on that and make the refugees out to be the bad ones. and you are entitled to your opinion. i just think if people knew the facts alot would change there minds alot wouldnt too, dare i say this could be due to racism. anyone what other controversial topics can we talk about? i love this stuff!

aww, i was expecting to be showered with hate. no fair, i wanted to rant and bitch tonight, too. i don't consider myself racist, but i think many might see me as one. however, i live in the northern territory, and anyone that sees me in that light hasn't ever truly experienced what the territory has to offer, me thinks. again, i feel sorry for boat people, but we have our own problems within the country too, that require a bit more attention.

Well i can be mean if you really want me too??? i do agree with what you and Katy said about having enough problems of our own. but like ive already said its the principle that annoys me! the gov is basically making it impossible for refugees to make it to australia, by expanding the exclusion zones, im not saying this is a bad thing but its not right. and really we could never begin to imagine or hopefully ever know what these people have come from. ive even heard people say oh their from afghanistan, yes they are thats why they have come here to escape that oppression. but really what hope do they have here if there is still so much oppression of indigenous australians maybe that deserves a whole thread to itself! well i think i am going to become very disliked! but i cant help expressing my opinions! so do tell what you mean by what the territory has to offer?

all I can say about this is that we are forgetting our roots - this nation was born and raised by the valuable imput and sacrifice by the thousands of migrants and refugees from all over the world who took the brave step to seek a better life for themselves and their family - for all sorts of valid reasons. I wouldn't even be here to have my two cents worth if it wasn't for mulitculturalism. Let's not forget the lesson's of history and lets' not let this wonderful nation be driven by the currents of fear and ignorance. Other wise we'll just end up like america (oops did i say that out loud! hahahaha - god: lil' johnny stop giving Bush a monica...lol). Fair trade anyone?
