hey, new member. first post.
i'm really into
pj harvey tori amos bjork the cranberries madonna massive attack portishead pink floyd radiohead the tea party
and heaps of polish artists and bands you guys have probably never heard of (damn the globalisation of english music - no one wants to risk a foreign band/artist - except that latin music that's sweeping the world at the moment)
right at this very second i'm listening to the 'ghost in the shell' soundtrack on mp3.

there are a couple of beauties on watching angels mend actually, like trigger, i really like that song. lloyds first and second albums are really different though, i appreciate them both in different ways, and maybe i only like the first one better because i havent listened to the second one enough. its all good though.

hmmm i'm listening to Art of Fighting - Wires (very very good, and see them live if you can!!! if you like low, you'll love them) Finn - Finn (Neil + Tim Finn making excellent rough as guts music) Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and Neil Young and Stephen Stills solo stuff, which is all excellent Neworder - Republic Tea Party - Transmission Tom Waits - closing time, small change, heart attack and vine Vince Jones - heres to the miracle Ben Harper - live from mars You Am I - Saturday night round ten Gomez - Bring it on Radiohead - Amnesiac SOUL MUSIC!!! and now i'll shut up and on Alex Llyod, i saw him support Gomez when they were out last, playing to his backing tape. i liked it so much more than on the album, because i reckon a lot of great songs were wrecked on black the sun because of over-production... watching angels mend is a lot more together in terms of the overall sound i think. he's worked out samples and i cant stand the captain by casey but yeah b + b is good late additon - the bonus disc with the captain had one good song 'another lonely day' which is a cover of ben harper. and can i just say that the cover of 'better be home soon' by crowded house on same-said bonus disc is F*CKIN HORRIBLE!!!! made me really want to snap her little country neck, actually. but i'm a peaceful man and i'm listening to Sumo by the superjesus again! help!!!!!!!!! from me

I'd have to agree that I was a little disappointed with Jet Age.. But it's not all bad by any means. There are a few gems among the lot. By fuck, the bonus disc rocks like no other. The orchestra, the piano, the vocals, hell, the bongos..! It all comes together perfectly.
So yes, Jet Age may not be quite as good as Sumo was, but if each consecutive album that every band released was exactly the same as their previous one than you'd tire of them pretty damn quickly. Hell, you'd wind up sounding like Blink 182.
*shudder*

Ahh, but Blink weren't always shite... Dude Ranch was a cool album. Their singles were the only good songs off Enema of the State, and everything since just blows...
I have to ask, how many discs can your stackers take? The question was "What's in your CD player?", and people have been listing their favourite albums.
In my CD player right now is Sister Flute and the Sunday Best by Palladium. Great album. Saw them live for $3 last night. I'm amazed it was so cheap, and there was hardly anyone there. I was amazed.
And before I put Palladium in, I had been listening to Motorace - Five Star Laundry and Pearl Jam - Ten (recently listened to Vitalogy over and over and decided to get back to where it started.)

I could never be bothered contributing to this topic but now that there's no pressure to try to think of all my favourite cds I can tell you whats in my CD player. The Strokes - Is This It - its a gem and in my walkman...Tea Party - Interzone Mantras - excellent.

I've seen Palladium, umm, three times now? Maybe two. And they're terrific...though I didn't think the album quite matched the live show. I listened to Echolalia on the way up to uni today, oddly enough. And Michelle Branch. That girl is sensational
