I'm sure this topic has been brought up before, but i thought, hey, I'm new so i'll claim ignorance if it has How do you feel about the upcoming February 14th? Is just another day on the calendar invented by American Retailers to make a buck from romantics, or perhaps a wonderful day to celebrate the love (or hope for love) in your life? Personally, i hold the latter view. Valentine's Day has always been my favourite day of the year (my birthday coming close second). Despite the obvious exploitation by the retail and marketing community, i think it is a marvellous day to be romantic. Share your annecdotes/thoughts of the topic, both positive and negative.

hmmmm......whatever floats your boat i guess......
but being 15, having teenage girls as, umm, "friends" it's really really really dumb
anywho, if we're buying this whole love thing anyway, why do you need a say to show your love for someone? if you love them.....you love them all the time, you should show them that all the time, not jsut cause it's feb. 14th
maybe im just bitter and if someone wlaked up and gave me a rose i'd think differently........
hmm probably not
im sorry, if that makes your day, that's really fantastic, but i dont buy it

don't apologise! None of my friends are into it either. (neither is my boyf ) I think for me, being of the romantic persuasion, i see it as one day in the whole year entirely dedicated to love. We love our partners every day of course, and things shouldn't be different just because of the date, but i guess it's just a day to celebrate it all.

But I'm just a bitter cynic and I imagine that if I had a gf my viewpoint would be dramatically different.
Very very different actually.

I could take it or leave it. My bf seems to like the day more than I do -so this year, I have a surprise for him (for once).

Hmmm...wouldn't be so certain Without a doubt I'm certain. but eh, can't be regretful I guess. What is, is, and what isn't, isn't. A pity, but that's just the way it is.

as you all most likely know, against all odds, I am not single.
On Friday, I'm going to show my special girl just how much I love her by not kneejerking in response to a Commercial Day.

It's nice to do something special if you're with someone but it shouldn't be expected

I've had bf's the past 3 years, and this will be the 4th in a row, and I still haven't received anything, from anyone, ever (apart from family and friends). I know it's commercial and shit, but to get one damned flower would be so nice. Is that so bad? :/

-You are way to confusing for your own good, mister! Yeah, I know that. Overanalyse is my middle name. It's just basically that my gripe with Valentine’s Day is that well, misery loves company, and on Valentine’s Day I have to hear a bunch of schoompy couples saying how they made love in front of the fireplace while eating Belgium chocolates and drinking French champagne. And, I don't want to hear that right now.

Well currently i'm not to fussed on Valentine's day and will be spending it with some friends who are also single so we can bitch and moan or just complety ignore the day, which sounds more inviting to me, because we seem to be constantly bitching and moaning anyway we really don't need an entire day decidated to that. But yes if i wasn't so single then i would be thinking VERY differently
