I didn't like it much at first either, but people really need to give it a go without comparing it to the original (though I understand that's always going to happen). It's a very haunting song if you're not constantly thinking about how different it is. that's what i was thinking, the haunting qualities of it. I didn't mind it. I want to get the whole album, excitementos.

Anyone in Sydney (mainly..as they're a syd. band) know Dappled Cities Fly? I wonder because i had a fat crush on the drummer (hugh) when we were both in year 2 and i haven't heard much of their stuff...(also had a smaller liking for one of the singers later on..hehe) (me = pre-band groupie)
Sophie, you might know more...

yeh i have their album to review at the moment.
They're playing tonight at the Hopetoun as well, with New Buffalo and Disaster Plan i think. Great line up! i was going to review it but i have to go out to dinner.
yeh the album... it's alright. The songs in themselves are really good, well constructed, quirky and catchy...indie pop at its best... but Rennicks vocals are sometimes so bad they're no longer cool... just painful. However, there are some tracks where his voice suits perfectly.

Ummm, the lyrics usually have lines that entail teenage love in the backseat of a volkswagen (as described in a review I read, kinda accurate too). The word "emo" shits me, but I like a few bands that have been classed under it. Death Cab For Cutie and Fourth Floor Collapse being the main ones for me.
Waits patiently for Tim's reply...

"emo" stands for emotional punk music. (i think....)

has anyone heard of the red sun band? i first read about them in the drum media and they have been going quite well.they even toured with sonic youth a little while back. ive only only heard a little but im already a bit jealous of thier position.if you read a bit about them and then have a listen youll see what i mean.maybe.

hey and wtf is with this emo crap anyway. no one can tell me how im going to feel when i listen or touch anything.maybe, maybe i could understand "alternative" being a label just because some things should not be classified and that they just wouldnt have a clue where to put it but emo? do you kids like being told this will make you feel somthing? it'll make me feel something alright;but its going to be nothing like what they imagine.i dont know about you guys but i dont like thinking that a couple of punks that got pissed off about some blondie ditching them for mr money bags could ever understand shit about what it is to be alive.im not so dull that i would have to twist my head around to make this type of crap cerdible.it breaks the heart

How can emo be for only punk rock? Don't metal fans have feelings?
I don't understand the concept. Just like my original interpretation of it being a dishwashing/ laundry detergent.

well cmon punk is obviousley meant for people with more stretched pants and bleached hair than brains its too easy to get them in line lesser known that the punk artist gives the listener a triffle of doubt that the only difference between them is the guitar and well......

what i want to know is who the fuck would pay money to find out how to express how they feel or how they want to feel.the only way to fill in that element ofof being alive and the inevitable re-orientation is to actually be there.why get the hint and run off for advice?
