how come no-ones mentioned chris cheney...the living end. I think he's quite a brilliant guitarist, easily near the top of the aussie tree of guitarists i reckon. writes great songs and has awesome ability.

Cheesy I know but i have to admit my vote goes to Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. Then and now.
Carlos Santana is an obvious one but I class what he does with a guitar as sonic masturbation.
Jeff Martin gets the prize for upkeeping all four aspects of being a great performer and still being alive, maybe I should make that the fifth box to check on my list.
Great guitar skills Great Stage Presence Adept use of lyricism Excellent vocals in cohesion with his guitar playing (now that is the real rarity). Oh yes and the fifth which I have now added he is still alive.
Sad really that usually you get a good vocalist that plays dodgy guitar or a good guitarist with average vocals.

absolutley beautiful acoustic ballads followed by crushing distortion heroics. a living legend.

oh yeah, you got them at Perth We didn't (in Melb) but I saw them live for the second time at the Palais which was just fantastic. They are so laid back and have a cool attitude about what it play... but when they start going, it's all so intense and quite serious! Everyone cheers for all the new instruments at the gigs too! ha! Funny. He deserves it though... who the hell can play 3 different weird indian-sounding funny-looking instruments?

System of a down had the crowd going insane. I've seen manson, metallica, korn, pearl jam (they have crazy fans) etc and I have never seen a crowd mosh past the half way mark -it's usually only the first 10-15 rows and half way for the main headlining band. It was insane... and the music was so fucking hard. I just don't get it. And you're not over 18? I thought you looked 20-21. I think you'll get into placebo no worries. Anyway, did you know that the tea party are most popular here in Australia than anywhere else in the world and we were the first county to catch onto them? Jeff may have said that at the BDO in Perth, as he has said it at the two gigs I went to.

But... they are Canadian. hehe. The biggest band in Canada is 'The Tragically Hip', which most people have never heard of.
