I met Alex Lloyd once. He was pretty quiet but he seemed nice enough.

Ben Lee's arrogance keeps me amused.

Have you heard the song "Ben Lee" by the Atari's? It is awesome - pays him out for getting where he is only through knowing the Beastie Boys and boonting Claire Danes.

Never heard it, I will d/l it. Either way, that cigarette song was very catchy!
I never knew how hated he was among the music industry until a few months ago... wouldn't it be funny to be a fly on the wall in the green room at the Aria's or something?

The Ataris have a very scary obsession with Claire Danes and anything Claire Danes related

Who are the bands that you were excited to see live but were totally bored to death by? Jon Butler Trio (five till midnight festival, 2001) - Incredibly overrated, yes they have some good songs but in my opinion all the hype that surrounds these guys has gone to their heads a little. Every song had long self indulgent solo's when it was really not needed. What was worse was the crowd mindlessly cheering for no particular reason during the songs, at one stage JB was getting cheers and applause for picking up a bongo. I think its good that these guys have very strong political and social messages but i think that this has covered over the fact that they aren't that good. Spiderbait - The first time i saw them i thought they were ok but after a while was a little repetitive. I have seen them three times now and i really can't discern one of their gigs from another. Dull. Of course none of this can be said about everyones fave band sfk JBT: Oh god yes, saw them at Homebake 2001, absolutely fucking excruciating. 15 minutes for the first song of the set is really an unwise thing to do. I had enough time to: 1. leave my mates and all the other smelly hippies in the crowd behind 2. take a look around at the rest of the domain 3. take a leak 4. get bored by Alex Lloyd 5. Sit by a tree and realise it was still the first song. And this, coupled with a 5 hr car trip the day before, waking up at 7 am (never a good thing), a bad train trip from Wollongong, various nosebleeds, having to carry my bag full of luggage around for the whole day - i was fed up, i didnt need to hear 8 minute drum/guitar solos Spiderbait: Well, they are one of my fave bands on CD, but live, well, thats another matter. They've been doing the same material forever, they're still playing stuff from their early 90's recordings, and whatever other popular songs they've had over the years. Oh, and stuff whatever album they've just released, or working on. And plus the concussion that I got in the mosh pit (in the circle they they make) wasn't too much fun. Also, I saw a guy that used to be on Home and Away in there (the only reason I know that is coz he lives in my town.. honestly)

Which reminds me of that pretentious side project he did with the equally arrogant Richie from Tumbleweed: Hot Rollers. Actually, I didn't mind that album. The video clips for the two singles (especially Silver Bullets) were pretty cool. In a low production values kinda way.

That song by Klinger is called "sayonara anyway Ben Lee". You are wrong wrong wrong wrong. i find it really embarrasing that i'm correcting Klinger facts - the song was just called "Ben Lee", "Sayonara Anyway" was the other track on a double A side single... hence the Sayonara Anyway/Ben Lee title of the cd.. haven't heard the ataris song, i might have to check it out..
