yeah, revenge is slow is definitely their softest, but that aint a bad thing. hitchhiking in new zealand has gotta be one of the best songs jamie has ever written. almost as good as the version of stained mouth on the girl genius ep... fuck me dead that is such an awesome song... you should also purchase the girl genius ep...
if you want some stuff thats louder, maybe go fear of girls then, or come across, they're a really good mix.
but if you want full on BBK, go patient i reckon : ) patient also has one of BBKs best slower songs on it me reckons, matrimony.

bringing up a dead thread...the new single doesnt appeal to me so much as revenge is slow and come across...and even a little bit of light single. they really seem to be hitting the folk for the new material, which seems to be good and bad. hitchiking in new zealand is indeed, awesome. gotta love some of the stuff from come across...the last playboy in town..heh. not really a big fan of the Fear of Girls stuff i've heard...seems a bit simplistic. still, awesome find. thanks again people.

BBK are awesome, can't wait for the new album. Yes it is double apparently.
There's two new songs on their myspace worth checking out. Plus 'the women are an army' ep is really good too.
I personally like 'come across' the best. 'revenge is slow' is really good but has few weak moments. 'the last playboy in town' EP has a couple of gems on it. 'Patient' rocks the most.
For whoever it is that is with the inside information, tell me more! I was lucky enough to meet Jamie a couple of months ago and he confirmed what somebody said about there not being another solo album anytime soon, probably because most of his writing has gone towards the double album. His solo album is also really great by the way. I don't have their first couple of EPs/singles, I'd love to hear them.

I spoke to jamie briefly on the last tour, and gained this information: Doubt Seeds is indeed a double album. It will be released in June. They will be touring again around june I think. It might be sydney only, but theres gonna be at least 1 show in which the band will play the album in its entirety
I just found these on thier myspace

Sydney people: Theres no excuse not to be at the friday 19th show. And the only excuse for not being at the thursday 18th show is being at the metro for something for kate

Some of the b sides on the women are an army are great, better than those on a little bit of light. As for Fear of Girls being simplistic... hmm, i aint so sure about that, but i can see where you're coming from. Although patient is my favourite album, I definitely think Come Across is their best. Best song writing ever. Oh and if anyone hasn't got it, get the Girl Genius EP/single. Best B sides around I reckon. I just realised I'd posted this before, but i'll do it again anyway.

Yeah I've been listening to "The Woman Are an Army EP" more lately, but while i love the title track, i was actually thinking the b-sides are no-where near as grabbing as the "A Little Bit Of Light" B-Sides. I'll get "Patient" if I come across it (uhm..yeah that wasn't intended). Still no sign of Perth dates...

to me the b-sides on the women are an army, surfing in a dress and second sight, are a bit closer to what bluebottle kis have done before.
but that song 'reaction!' sucks so much...

oh god yeah. tracks 2 and 3 are pretty poor. the singing harmonys in "a different kind of nervous" irritate me. is "reaction" sung by ben grounds..because that song really is terrible. "surfing in a dress" is alright, but it sounds a bit too similar (singing wise) to "invent the summer" from revenge is slow. the website says Doubt Seeds will be released on june 12. I'm looking forward to it. (goddamn i'm going to be so annoyed if they don't come to perth).

reaction isn't that bad. i remember seeing them play it live and giggling at the toy harmonica ben was playing (and yes, he is doing lead vocals in that song)
the song that is really gonna kick arse on the new album is dream audit. ive seen it live once or twice and i love it
june 12 is also the release date of the next degrassi high dvds and its the queens birthday

holy crap that was such a great show last night.i think it sold out too, was very packed in any case. i saw 2/3rds of peabody there (bruno seems to have the job of passing guitars onstage between songs) and about half of the devoted few (not fletch however). oh and sophie was playing piano on a few songs too.
i had been having a shitty day before and nearly didnt go but once they started playing i felt alot better and then they played Homeless Blueless third and when they got to the "once.. i drew a line" part i felt on top of the world, i love when a band can do that. stole the setlist too, which went:
Prussian Blue Crawling With Ants Homless Blueless your mirror is a vulture sailors knot sheffield brides the women were an army hello stranger gangsterland (jamie decided the appropriate way to end this song was shoving his guitar into the drum kit) white rider the blackbirds ------- give up the ghost cross purpose (my fave BBK song <3)

Damn, I was going to go but I've got a shitload of Uni work.
Saw them play Ice On The Road at the Annandale a month or so back.
Dear God, I crossed that one off my to do list that night. Would love to have heard Homeless Blueless again, gotta be one of my fave songs.

so they've announced information about their new album.
It's called Doubt Seeds, and it's a double album! (so common lately.. Ben Harper, RHCP, Whitlams) The release date is June 12.
Tracklisting: Disc 1: your mirror is a vulture nova scotia sheffield brides weight of the sea scrub the mist sailors knot fire engine slight return a little bit of light little dissapearer
Disc 2: dream audit little black dahlias the judas hands white rider speak up memory harold holt the women are an army the blackbirds miranda silent golden
I've been listening to their last two albums recently so it should be good to hear the new stuff. I might pick up Patient after the recommendations i've read in here.
