I think I'll buy Fear of Girls (along with a shirt, if they have them) at the show in a couple of weeks. Hopefully that will work out. I've managed to rope a couple of friends who arent really fans to come along.

Ha, I've got my girlfriend, my mum AND my dad coming along.
My mum digs em, my dad doesn't quite get them, but i think he just wants to relive his youth at Sydney Uni.
If they have a different design shirt from the ones they had at the last shows, i'll get one. (not that i didn't like the design, i did, and so i already have one).
Also, Fear Of Girls is awesomely awesome, and it's good value for money too, 'tis their longest album. EDIT: Single disc album, that is : )

i know the feeling
i also wished i hadnt tuned out of them for a long time like it did
like i got revenge is slow when it was new, was excited to see them supporting dempsey in may that year, then by homebake i couldnt be arsed seeing them, and i got come across when it was pretty new, listened to it, then tuned out for another year or so, i dunno why
i hope that doesnt happen again
anyway, i just got jamies mail and merle morris & sam shinazzi are supporting the cronulla show. thats gotta be the best 3 bands in one night lineup ive seen this year

Craaaaaap concert in 2 nights and still I don't have tickets. If it sells out I'm shooting someone.
But assuming it all goes to plan, its time for a bit of pre-tour hype:
Best moments from Doubt Seeds?
Personally, can't go past the Sailors Knot. It really grew on me. But I doubt i'll ever get bored of Weight of the Sea, Little Disappearer, Speak up Memory, The Woman are an Army or Silent Golden. The rest of the album is still awesome of course (I sing along to practically the entire thing now) but those ones stick out for me at this point in time.

The BEST song on Doubt Seeds is Dream Audit. That has gotta be one of my top ten fave BBK songs of all time I reckon. I remember seeing them play it at a teeny gig at Sound & Fury CD shop in Sydney, and was blooooooown away. Then i saw it again a few more times before it was released and was equally blown away...
Other than that, I'd go for Nova Scotia, Sheffield Brides, Fire Engine, Slight Return, A Little Bit of Light, Little Disappearer, Harold Holt and he Black Birds... Yeah, they're my faves.
I saw Sam Shinazzi support BBK a few months ago, I wasn't too impressed really.
Now, I heard someone ask, "Sass, what are some of your fave BBK songs of all time?"
To that I would answer (in chronological order, or thereabouts)...
Beautifully Tragic Requiem For The Holden Elmer's Gone Autumn Comes Too Soon Outside Are The Dogs Familiar Revelation On Francis St Boredom You Are Breaking My Heart (live version on Girl Genius EP) Stained Mouth (version on Girl Genius EP, quite possibly best song in existence) Return To The City Of Folded Arms Smother It In Honey Homeless Blueless Six Wheels Maps To Help You Lose Your Way Ice On The Road (live version on Gangsterland EP, also in contention for best song in existence) Prussian Blue Hello Stranger Hitchhiking In New Zealand (on second thoughts, maybe this is the best song in existence) Soft Words Will Break Your Bones The Vivisector Everything Begins And Ends At Exactly The Right Time (one of my fave solos ever) Slow Train To A Comfy Jail So Slow Crawling With Ants Ministry Of Fear Dream Audit
Yeah, I think thats the big players, although it must be known that I don't hate any BBK songs, but I do like the b sides on the A Little Bit Of Light single the least.

Concert last night. The venue was pretty nice, well furnished and very comfy etc (Rosemount hotel) if youre into that kind of thing. Both support bands were good..both local acts. I bought a shirt and Fear of Girls off Jarred before the show, which was cool.
The actual show was pretty awesome. As far as live bands go they're easily one of the best I've seen. My only (slight) dissapointment is the only one of my favourite songs they played was Homeless Blueless...and Little Dissapearer, but the crowd was stupidly noisy during that.

I wonder if they'll chuck in some extra songs at the end of the Manning Bar show on the 26th.
Anyone else here going to that one?

Yeah i got it, didn't read the review though.
They ended a gig i saw at Spectrum last year with a massively drawn out crazy arse rendition of Gangsterland, complete with guitar handout to the crowd and finger waving in the air.
It'd be great if they threw in some ooooooold songs for the encore as a little treat.
