heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey people Can anyone somehow make available Requiem for the Holden and Beautifully Tragic for me (and anyone else who might not have them) to download. I was hoping they'd be on the live album but now I really cant hold out waiting, seeing we dont even know if one will be released. If not via sfk ftp, then yousendit or something? It would be very much appreciated.

Thanks muchly Drew. As promised, you are now my god. I've listened to the album the whole way through now. A few thoughts -
- I kind of get what it was meant in the bio by "the first album suggested they were just warming up for the mainstream" - Requiem for the Holden isnt what I imagined ("surf-rock opera" would suggest twang..right?) but it's still a very good song. - I think overall I like it more than Fear of Girls. Maybe.
On another note, does anyone have Slight Return/ Outseeds? I'm not asking for it to be spread online, just curious.

I've got Slight Return/Outseeds, but havn't listened to it all the way through yet.
Beautifully Tragic and Requiem.. are the best songs on Higher Up The Firetrails, and One Way Ticket To Antarctica is also damn good.
I think Higher Up The Firetrails is their 'least goodest' album, they only REALLY become the BBK we know and love on Double Yellow Tarred i reckon. I think Higher.. was more just getting down the songs they'd been playing for a couple of years on CD.
I REALLY hope this live album comes to fruition..

thanks a lot drew! very appreciative.
ive listened to it a couple of times now. Pretty good. beautifully tragic sounds quite novice to me, as if its like a rough draft/practice song ... one of the sketchy ones that comes out of trying to write songs for the first time.

i agree with whats been said here really, HUTF is an okay album with some okay songs, but it just seems so bland and dull compared to the rest of their stuff. and yeah, beautifully tragic, requiem and one way ticket are the best songs
I've got slight return/outseeds, its a good EP, i think the reason for these songs being left off the album weren't so much a quality reason rather than a variety reason

do you want it?

I want it in the same way I want all the BBK EPs/singles (except last playboy in town and doubtseeds singles), the golden coach, not to mention the entirity of the Big Heavy Stuff back catalogue (except for Dear Friends...). And you know I would be very, very appreciative. But I can't honestly say I have anything that might be demanded (and out of print) now to give in return, so if you decide to upload anything its entirely up to you...kind of thing.

Good luck to those of you who are going.
Something thats been worrying me for awhile is that BBK are somehow associated with neo-conservative annoyingness. My only real connection to this is Nick Carr linking to a "conservative top 50" article from the NYtimes or something on his last.fm account. Thoughts, people?
PS. Drew-god, please ftp double yellow tarred EP if you get a chance/want to.
