It was the "manning bar launch gig of the decade" thing which gave it away. Also the name = jr00. I feel so clever.

'We're in the process of finalising a whopping big 8 track c.d. It features a remastered version of 'Slight Return' from 'Doubt Seeds' plus 7 songs from those sessions, lots of great ensemble noise on this one, it's sounding very...y'know good.'

I just read on moshtix that the gaelic show is gonna be a 6 piece. Obviously this means Sophie will be on keys, and someone on brass i guess....

FUCK YES!
I take it you were at the Gaelic Club : ) What a lovely gig that was, glad they played Crawling With Ants, Homeless Blueless and Slow Train. And Nova Scotia and Fire Engine went awesomely too. Really, really like those songs now..
Oh, and Requiem For The Holden. Man, for lack of a better term, that 'went off'!
Grabbed myself a free poster too. I wonder when this new CD of theirs is coming out..

i've always liked fire engine but the live version was fucking great, i loved them belting out the lyrics that the choir did at the end
shame there was no black birds and a few others, but hell, they could play for 3 hours and i'd still say 'they missed this'

Yeah exactly, although i love every show of theirs i see, i still won't be completely satisfied until they play the electric version of Stained Mouth.
Usually when i hear new songs for the first time live i can't really get into them, but I remember the first time i heard Dream Audit before Doubt Seeds was released and i was blown away, i had that song in my head for months until the album finally arrived.
I actually think Fire Engine sounds better with just the band acting as the choir.
Have you read the BBK retrospective on messandnoise.com? It's pretty good, if maybe a little verbose.

I certainly don't think BBK lost any of their integrity in Revenge Is Slow and Come Across...maybe that's just with hindsight though.
