Actually, the thing I love about this board though is that we can have a decent discussion / argument without it getting childish and personal. It's good that it's not along the lines of: "_________ suck!" "No they don't. You suck!!" "Look they fucking suck alright! Fuck off!" Because that's the extend it goes to on a lot of other boards. Not naming any names.  |

And Diane, you missed my Brian Wilson point completely. He wrote some fucking amazing melodies in his time...just beacuse he didn't write his own lyrics does not make his less of a performer. So what if he's Bipolar? A dear friend of mine is, and she's one of the strongest people I've ever known.
She's a dancer. Not a Muppet. The Muppets are pop culture icons of the second half 20th Century. Britney isn't.
And you're wrong about me too. I think lots of girls are attractive. Sure as hell don't have a crush on all of them though. A cheap shot, poorly aimed.

dirtgirl, my opinion of you just dropped many notches. insinuating that bipolarity is something that makes someone inferior is narrow-minded and ignorant. the fact that your way of dismissing this guy is "he's bipolar, he needs help" is not only insulting, but it's lame. (FYI, i was originally diagnosed bipolar before my mental conditions were discovered to be slighty different). it's also a weakness in your argument that you take such an anti-male approach to things ("men like tits, all the guys in this thread like shitney" etc.). it not only lessens your case with its cheap shots at males, but it ignores the fact that a majority of those in possession of Britney's CDs are in fact teenage girls. even if the strings are pulled by men, and even if britney is trying to appeal to men, females are still funding her continued exploits.

When exactly did I take a cheap shot? Did I call you a hairy man-hating dyke? No I did not.
As for the casting the first stone comment, I personally believe that is bullshit. I noted my previous judgemental comment (directed towards Katy) and retracted it and apologised. I just pointed out that you were guilty of the same, and that its use was offensive (and those who know me know that I'm not easily offended, I laugh off almost everything).
I also never said you were the victim, I said you were talking (well typing!) as if you were the victim.
Finally, the "How do you know that I believe that I'm writing?" comment gave me great satisfaction. It's classic, because it shows that while you have been shown to be talking complete crap, you will refuse to admit it. Trust me, I used that line myself a few times. And the other one on the other board, "Just doing it for amusement". Yep, sounds very familiar to me.
Maybe you do do it for amusement and you don't believe what you are writing. I, on the other hand, make my arguments for three reasons:
1. I'm a better writer than a talker. I can come off more intelligent this way.
2. I want to challenge people to actually come up with good reasons to support what they say, and to sort out who actually knows their shit... and most importantly...
3. To hear those magic words that bring joy to every human being, male or female: "You're right". ;D
Quick comment: Anyone notice how many rock bands diss pop music and don't even know what they're allegedly fighting against and why? Same as everything above... And they also talk political, give left-wing comments that are factually unreliable, but don't know what they're on about, they just know a "Fuck John Howard" will bring a cheer from the crowd. At least Midnight Oil know what they are talking about. I wonder how many others know.
Too many rock bands have nothing new to say.
Anyway I'll stop before I write another essay. (Anyone reading this topic looking for a Year 12 English topic would think this is absolute gold!)

once again, your hypocrisy rears its head, dirtgirl. the first and only cheap shots in this thread originated from your keyboard. the males-led-by-their-dicks comments, the "so young, so cynical" comments.... they're all yours. and you can't seem to stop! how many freaking times do you want to mention burley in your post?
and i'm sorry, but to say "i'm just writing in character" is pathetic. now your comments have morphed from serious statements that you stand by to witty jokes that you don't actually believe and which are just meant to "get a rise" out of the males in this thread? perhaps you need to reread our comments, because if you equate our rebuttal of your theories as our male bewilderment at your female wit, you're wrong. we tried to continue the discussion, partly by refuting your statements, and you run for the old "i'm really just joking/manipulating you/proving my point by watching you get angry" defence? puh-lease.
in future, stick by your statements or admit the strengths of the other side. you have a lot of intelligent things to say - don't cheapen them.

After having a particulary bad couple of days, i'm not really in any fit emotional state to offer much of a defense tonight.
Like a hunted animal backed into a corner, my previous mail was a half hearted defence of the indefensible.
Everyone has valid points.
The aim has always been to provoke intelligent dialogue and occassional discourse. This has been achieved, for better or worse.
That's all its ever been about.
I think my silence will be my best and only defense for the future.

FACT:not enough naked men on tv what tv are you watching? obvously not the same as me? but then again, my tv is stuck on Channel Gay. i don't get this article. i mean, i think we all agree that no one actually *listens* to britney.....so why not allow us men our viewing pleasures.... but seriously, i gues the serious thing is the impression it gives to the kiddies (god bless their cotton socks)...but i reckon kids nowadays are pretty darn smart. Let them listen to who they want to, its part of growing up. I wouldn't want my kids listening to britney or eminem or powderfinger, but if i said that then thats exactly what they would listen to. So my plan is, im going to ban them from listening to s4k, thereby converting them to our faith. However, when they find out my plan they will disown me just in time to pay their own univeristy admission fees....... but if you're worried about britneys influence on the future, don't worry, i've seen the future.
